The apartment I stayed in had these great windows that let in tons of natural light (which you really appreciate during those longer winter days), and the setup was surprisingly spacious. Not like those cramped hotel rooms where you’re practically climbing over your suitcase to get to the bathroom.

What really impressed me was the attention to practical stuff that a lot of places completely overlook. The kitchen actually works – I’m talking proper appliances, decent cookware, the kind of setup where you could make a real meal if you wanted to skip restaurants for a night. The internet was genuinely fast (tested it multiple times because, let’s be honest, that can make or break a stay), and the whole place stayed surprisingly quiet even though you’re in a pretty active part of the city. Parking wasn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven around Baku will tell you is not something to take for granted. The building management was responsive without being pushy – they gave me the local insights I needed but didn’t hover around trying to upsell me on tours or whatever.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on the place though – it’s got that perfect balance where you feel like you’re living in Baku rather than just passing through it. You can walk to the good coffee spots that locals actually use, you’re close enough to the Old City when you want that historical fix, but you’re also positioned where you can easily get to the newer parts of town without spending half your day in transit. The neighborhood has this authentic energy that’s hard to find when you’re staying in the typical hotel districts. Plus, and this might sound small but it matters, the place just smelled clean and fresh, not like industrial cleaning products or that weird staleness you get in some accommodations. It’s the kind of spot where you actually want to spend time hanging out rather than just crashing for the night.
