The Modern apartment by Bakuapart sits right in Sabayil – which, if you’re not familiar with Baku, is basically where you want to be. I mean, you’re walking distance from the Old City walls, but you’re also close enough to the modern stuff that you don’t feel stuck in tourist-land. The building itself is pretty typical for this neighborhood, but step into the apartment and there’s this nice contrast between contemporary furnishings and these little touches that actually make it feel homey. The kitchen’s properly equipped too – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but actual counter space and appliances you’d use. I ended up cooking a couple mornings because, honestly, the local markets nearby are fantastic and it felt silly not to take advantage.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Samed Vurgun can be busy during the day (there’s always something happening in Sabayil), but the apartment faces away from the main traffic flow, so you’re not dealing with car horns at 2 AM. The internet’s solid – I was working remotely part of my stay and never had issues with calls or uploads. Check-in was smooth too, though you’ll want to coordinate timing in advance since it’s not a traditional hotel setup with a 24-hour desk. The host was responsive and actually gave me some good local recommendations that weren’t the usual tourist spots. There’s this little tea house about three blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it became my regular afternoon stop. The apartment’s got good natural light, which sounds minor but makes a huge difference when you’re spending time there during the day. One small thing – the shower pressure’s great, but the hot water takes a minute to kick in, so don’t panic if it starts cold. Overall, it’s one of those places where the 8.9 rating actually makes sense when you’re there. It’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works well and feels intentional.
