I could walk to decent restaurants without needing a taxi, and getting to the city center was straightforward.

Here’s the thing about Baku hotels – a lot of them either try too hard to be flashy or they’re just basic business stops. The Mildom sort of hits this sweet spot where it feels like they’re actually paying attention to what travelers need without all the unnecessary frills. The Wi-Fi worked consistently (crucial for me), there was always hot water, and the air conditioning didn’t sound like a helicopter landing in your room. I stayed there during one of those stretches when Baku gets pretty warm, and honestly, coming back to a cool, comfortable room each evening made the whole trip better. The breakfast was solid – nothing revolutionary, but fresh bread, decent coffee, and enough variety that you’re not eating the exact same thing every morning. Plus, and this might sound small, but the elevators actually worked reliably, which you learn not to take for granted when you’re hauling luggage up and down. For a 4-star place, it delivers on what it promises without any weird surprises on your bill later.
