You know what surprised me about Green City Resort Hotel? The moment you pull up to 14 Salyan Highway, you’re not in the tourist bubble of Old City anymore – this is where Baku actually breathes. I mean, you’re still close enough to hit Nizami Street for shopping (maybe 15 minutes by taxi), but honestly, being out here gives you a much better sense of how locals live.

The place has this interesting vibe – it’s definitely trying to be upscale with the resort name and all, but in the best possible way, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no pretentious lobby theatrics. The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well, which I appreciate. When I asked about getting to the Flame Towers, the guy at the desk didn’t just say “take a taxi” – he explained which route drivers usually take and roughly what it should cost. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying not to look like a complete tourist.

The rooms are solid 4-star territory, nothing groundbreaking but definitely comfortable. What I really liked was how quiet it gets at night – being on Salyan Highway sounds like it might be noisy, but this stretch is actually pretty residential once the evening settles in. The air conditioning works properly (crucial in Baku summers, trust me), and the Wi-Fi didn’t constantly drop out like some places I’ve stayed. Little things, but they matter when you’re trying to upload photos or catch up on work. The breakfast setup was honestly better than I expected – they had local options alongside the standard international stuff, and the tea was proper Azerbaijani tea, not some generic hotel blend.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to figure out – while you’re not walking distance to the major tourist spots, you’re actually in a perfect position to explore parts of Baku that most visitors never see. There’s this fantastic local market about ten minutes’ walk away, and the whole area has authentic restaurants where you won’t find another tourist. I stumbled into this place that served the best dolma I had during my entire trip, and it was literally around the corner. The hotel’s 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re more interested in exploring the city than lounging around your hotel room all day.

  What could be improved: Завтрак включенный в стоимость очень скудный по выбору. Кофе только растворимый. Однако есть возможность заказать отдельно хороший завтрак за дополнительную плату.

  Понравилось все. Завтраки вкусные, разнообразные. Повар по желанию детей готовила разные каши. Бармен делал восхитительное какое, дети были в восторге. Номера большие, чистые. Единственное с душа протекала вода на пол. Бассейн и тренажерный зал самое то для отдыха с детьми. Еще вернемся к вам! Ребята на ресепшене очень вежливые.

  Хороший отель. Есть русскоговорящий персонал. Понравилось, что сразу же после заселения менеджер написал в вотсап, и можно было оперативно уточнять все вопросы. На территории отличный крытый бассейн, есть джакузи, сауна и турецкая паровая. Открытые бассейны нервничали, так как был несезон еще. Также хороший тренажерный зал. Полотенце, тапочки, халат – все выдают. Одна только шапочна для бассейна, но ее можно купить за 10 манат там же. В кафе приемлемые цены, кухня адаптирована, блюда менее жирные, есть привычные европейские блюда. До моря пройти можно по переходу. Расположение – мин 20 до центра. Есть автобусы. Мы были на машине. Есть парковка, все удобно
  
  What could be improved: Хотелось бы, чтобы меню на завтрак было более прозрачным, понятным. Завтрак а ля кард, не шведский стол. И не понятно, что можно заказать на завтрак. В один день нам принесли просто сет для бутерброда и варенье яйцо, а в другой дополнительно еще омлет. Все вкусно, но было бы удобно, если было бы какое-то меню включенного завтрака

  Проживали не в сезон, несмотря на это в гостинице работало кафе и бы весь персонал. В номерах убирали ежедневно, обновляли воду, кофе, чай. Завтрак не разнообразный, но вкусный. Есть бассейн, сауна, парная, спорт зал. У отеля большая территория, можно нагуляться.
  
  What could be improved: Из минусов это разве что расположение – далеко от центра города. Но такси стоит дешево, а если освоить общественный транспорт, то остановка под боком. Так что не большая проблема и минус притянутый за уши.
