MidCity Hotel Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from MidCity Hotel when I first walked up to it on Şövkət Ələkbərova street – I mean, it’s a 3-star place in Sabayil, so you know what you’re getting into, right? But here’s the thing that caught me off guard: this place actually gets it. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests walk in. You know that feeling when you can tell a hotel is run by people who actually care? That’s what hit me during check-in. The front desk guy – spoke perfect English, which isn’t always a given in this part of Baku – took time to mark up a little map with spots worth hitting in the Old City, which is basically a ten-minute walk from here. That 9.2 rating starts making sense pretty quickly.

What really won me over was how they handle the small stuff that most hotels mess up. The rooms are clean (like, actually clean, not just surface-level), the Wi-Fi doesn’t drop every five minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the water pressure in the shower is fantastic. I’ve stayed in fancier places where you’re basically standing under a light mist, so trust me on this one. The beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a marshmallow, and the blackout curtains actually work, which matters when you’re dealing with those long Baku summer days. The air conditioning runs quiet too – none of that rattling nonsense that keeps you up all night. I was there during a pretty busy weekend in late spring, and even with the hotel seemingly full, it never felt chaotic or loud in the hallways.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without paying those insane rates you’d get closer to Flame Towers. Sabayil district has this nice residential feel – you’ll see locals grabbing tea at the corner spots, kids playing in the small parks nearby. It’s real Baku life, not tourist bubble stuff. The Caspian Sea waterfront is maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and if you’re into the whole UNESCO World Heritage thing, the Old City walls are right there. Parking can be a bit tight on the street, but the hotel has arrangements with a nearby lot – just ask at the front desk. One small thing: the elevators are a bit slow during busy times, but honestly, that’s pretty minor when everything else works this well. For the price point and the genuine hospitality, MidCity feels like one of those finds you want to tell people about but also kind of want to keep to yourself.

The room is very clean, the facilities are new. The location is very near to both the old city and the new city, close to all the famous visiting places. Especially, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The last when I leave, there was Marathon in the center part which I did not know before. I cannot call any taxi. The the staff carried my luggage and send me the nearest Metro station. And teach me how to go the nearest Mero station of airport and then call taxi. It was soooo helpful for me. If without him, I couldn’t catch my flight at the end. I really appreciate for his great help.
