RS Baku Hotel Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from RS Baku Hotel when I first pulled up to Badamdar şossesi – I mean, it’s technically a 3-star place, but that 9.8 rating had me curious. You know what though? Sometimes the numbers tell the real story. This place punches way above its weight class, and after staying there twice now, I get why people keep coming back.

The location is actually pretty smart if you know Baku at all. You’re in Sabayil, which puts you close enough to the old city that you can walk to Icherisheher in about fifteen minutes (though honestly, the walk back uphill after a long day exploring those ancient streets might have you reaching for a taxi). But here’s the thing – you’re far enough from the tourist chaos that you get to see how locals actually live. The Badamdar road itself can get busy during rush hour, but the hotel sits back from the main drag enough that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise. I actually enjoyed having my morning coffee while watching the city wake up below.

What really got me about this place was the attention to small stuff that bigger hotels somehow miss. The front desk guy – I think his name was Elvin – actually remembered I liked my room a bit cooler and had already adjusted the AC before I checked in the second time. The breakfast isn’t fancy (no Instagram-worthy spreads here), but they make a proper Azerbaijani breakfast with fresh bread that’s still warm, and their tea service is spot-on. The rooms are clean in that way that tells you housekeeping actually cares about their work, not just rushing through a checklist. Sure, the furniture isn’t designer stuff, but everything works properly – the shower has good pressure, the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are legitimately comfortable.

I’ll be straight with you though – if you’re looking for a rooftop pool or a spa, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere reliable that won’t eat your entire travel budget, where the staff treats you like a person instead of a room number, RS Baku delivers. The neighborhood has some solid local restaurants within walking distance (there’s this little place that does incredible plov about three blocks down), and you’re well-positioned for day trips around the Absheron Peninsula. Parking was easy both times I stayed, which anyone who’s driven in Baku will tell you is not something to take for granted. That 9.8 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s what happens when a place focuses on doing the basics really, really well.

We had a very pleasant stay. The staff was hardworking and always helpful.

What could be improved: The only downside was a noisy neighbor, but I understand that's beyond the staff’s control. Overall, it was still a very positive experience.

Big thanks to the team — especially the general manager, Javid. He was helpful with tips and advice both at check-in and check-out.
Breakfast was tasty and nicely balanced.
