Khazar Golden Beach Sham Baku Overview
You know what surprised me about the Khazar Golden Beach Sham? It’s actually way better than its modest 3-star rating suggests – I mean, honestly, I’ve stayed at plenty of 4-star places that didn’t feel half as authentic. The location along Mərdəkan Sahil yolu puts you right where Baku locals come to escape the city heat, which means you’re not stuck in some touristy bubble. When I first pulled up (parking was surprisingly easy, by the way), I could smell that distinctive Caspian Sea breeze mixed with grilled fish from the nearby beachside spots.
The thing is, this place gets what beachside hospitality should actually be about. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the AC works great (crucial in Baku summers) and you can actually hear the waves from most of the seaside rooms. I loved that they didn’t try to be something they’re not with over-the-top decor or pretentious amenities. Instead, you get genuine warmth from staff who seem to actually care whether you find the good kebab place down the road or know which marshrutka will get you back to central Baku efficiently. The breakfast spread leans heavily local – fresh tomatoes, cucumber salad, that amazing Azerbaijani cheese, and tea served in traditional glass cups. Some mornings I’d just sit there watching families set up for beach days while sipping probably my tenth glass of tea.
What really won me over, though, was how the hotel fits into the whole Mərdəkan vibe. This isn’t downtown Baku – it’s where the city goes to breathe, especially on weekends when the beach gets lively with volleyball games and impromptu picnics. The Golden Beach staff seem to know everyone in the area, which means they’re full of those insider tips you can’t Google. Like which taxi drivers are reliable for the trip back to the city center, or that the fish market early morning is worth the wake-up call. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the WiFi can be spotty during peak hours, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on location and hospitality over Instagram-worthy lobbies. For the price point, especially if you want to experience Baku beyond the Flame Towers and old city tourist circuit, it’s honestly a solid choice. Just don’t expect room service – but trust me, you’ll want to be out exploring the coastline anyway.

Reviews of Khazar Golden Beach Sham Baku
Wonderful place to stay – Olesya from Czech Republic – 2 July 2025 (10/10)
Everything was great ever since I came through the doors of the customs in the airport: the driver who met us with the airport transfer service, the hotel manager who was present at the check in counter, the other stuff who provided breakfast, dinner, cleaning, services at the beach, etc. The sea (100 m from the hotel ) was 23 degrees, felt quite warm in the evening and refreshing during the hot day. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool which was right outside our hotel room.
Very good – Irina from Hungary – 15 June 2025 (8/10)
the staff and service were amazing!!! i have never been treated better. i felt like royalty. the hotel is on the beach. the beach is very wide and sea is fairly shallow so it's good for families with small kids.
i was there before the summer season started and though there were other guests it felt like the whole place belonged to me.
the weather was perfect – sunny and warm but because of the constant breeze it didn't feel hot. with open balcony door i didn't need air conditioning. i personally like wind and it doesn't bother me, but it is good to have a sweater or a sweatshirt handy, especially if you want to stroll along the sea in the evenings.
breakfast buffet was nice even if the choices were not very wide and it was pretty much the same every day. you can eat at the restaurant or have room service. in preseason there was no menu at the restaurant but for dinner they cooked whatever i wanted.
one night i wanted a glass of pomegranate wine. it took too long to get it so i got up to leave. the waiter offered to bring it to my room. he brought not a glass but a whole bottle. after tasting a sip i kept the whole bottle.
i booked a standard twin room but they put me in a huge room with a king-size bed, large arm chairs, a couch, coffee table , dining table and chairs and a desk! and there was still plenty of room to dance. in addition on the large balcony there was also a table and chair. the biggest bonus was an electrical outlet on the balcony so i could plug my laptop in and work.
What could be improved: internet was unstable in the beginning. the staff was very accommodating and tried to fix it even without my asking.
there is no shower cabin or curtain so taking a shower sprays water all over the bathroom area. but the shower itself is great – hot water comes out right away, so no waiting for it to warm up. and the water pressure is fantastic.
the balcony door does not have a handle on the outside so if you are out the door doesn't close all the way and mosquitoes and sand get into the room.
there are no electrical outlets by the bed and no bed lamp.
once the season started loud music was played pretty much all day by the swimming pool. at the beach you could only hear the beat but everywhere else on the grounds it was deafening.
most of the staff don't speak any foreign languages. a few speak some English and/or Russian. despite language differences everyone is super friendly and caring.Exceptional – Evalyine from United Kingdom – 9 June 2025 (10/10)

When i was staying there already construction build was completed and ready for summer season.I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Check-in was smooth and quick, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of the room. It was spacious, well-maintained, and had all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay.
The location is perfect — close to major sea, restaurants, and public transportation. I especially appreciated the quiet atmosphere, which made it easy to unwind after a long day of exploring.
Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with plenty of variety to choose from each morning. The hotel also offers great facilities.Very good – Katrien from Belgium – 3 May 2025 (8/10)
Nice breakfast

Exceptional – Mohammed from United Arab Emirates – 31 December 2024 (10/10)
Everything was comfortable and peaceful. Thanks all team.
I enjoyed my time at the hotel and would highly recommend it. I would love to come back in summer. – Gertrude from Kenya – 27 November 2024 (10/10)
I loved that the hotel treated each guest as if they were the only guest in the hotel. They were generally so kind and willing to offer etra support whether it with making a choice on the menu or navigating Baku. I am so greatful to Agha, Fazil and Warid.
What could be improved: That I couldn't enjoy everything that the hotel had to offer since it was winter. Like walking at the beach daily.Average – Sindija from Latvia – 5 September 2024 (6/10)
The hotel is very spacious with a pool and access to the sea, which is very good. Staff was very helpful. The food was very tasty. The room was spacious.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, the room was not very clean.
