Istanbul Gold Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Istanbul Gold Hotel on Mirali Gashgai street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Nasimi district. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you without trying too hard.
The thing about this neighborhood is that it’s actually pretty solid for getting around Baku. You’re close enough to the action without dealing with all the tourist chaos near the Old City, and there’s this authentic feel to the streets here that I really appreciated. The hotel itself sits on a relatively quiet stretch – I mean, you’ll still hear some traffic during rush hour because, well, it’s Baku – but it’s nothing that kept me up at night. Check-in was surprisingly smooth, and the front desk staff seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re tired from traveling.
What I liked most about the place was how it felt… practical, I guess? The rooms aren’t going to blow you away with luxury, but everything works the way it should. The bed was actually comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), the shower had decent water pressure, and the AC kept up even during those sticky summer evenings. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics right instead of drowning you in unnecessary amenities. The breakfast was simple but fresh – proper Turkish tea, decent bread, some local cheese and honey. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot and gave me energy for walking around the city. I also noticed they keep the common areas clean without that overpowering chemical smell some places have.
The 7.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to win any design awards, but it delivers on what matters. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially if I wanted to explore more of residential Baku rather than just hitting the main tourist spots. Plus, the value is solid for what you get. Just don’t expect a concierge or room service – this is more of a “clean, comfortable, and reliable” kind of place, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Location is very good and the charges are very reasonable.

Rooms are Spacious, well-appointed, and meticulously maintained rooms exceeded our expectations.
Breakfast is off course worth mentioning to begin a day with healthy and tasty startup.

First of all Yeya at the front desk was incredible one of the best customer experiences from my travels of over 25 countries. My family and I were in a situation where the hotel we were in didn’t meet our expectations. We were recommended renaissance and Yeya was amazing to find us rooms that we needed for our family considering we made many little requests! He was a life saver….breakfast in the morning was good french toast was very tasty our suite was very big…location is close to everything so getting an Uber/bolt to where we needed to go was easy.
What could be improved: Not much I wish the suite had a small sink or kitchenette with a microwave…but honestly I’m just being picky now!
