You know what? The Baku INN Hotel surprised me in all the right ways. I mean, when you first pull up to this place on Jalil Mammadguluzadeh street, it doesn’t scream luxury or anything – it’s honestly pretty understated from the outside. But that’s sort of the point. This is one of those solid, no-nonsense spots that locals actually recommend when their relatives visit, not just another tourist trap.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Baku at all. You’re right in Nasimi district, which puts you close enough to the old city that you can walk there in decent weather, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the crowds and inflated prices every single minute. The staff genuinely seems to care – I watched them spend like ten minutes helping this older couple figure out the metro system, drawing little maps and everything. Check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready” nonsense even though I showed up kind of early. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable without trying too hard to be fancy. I actually appreciated that the AC worked properly (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up), and the wifi was solid throughout the building. The breakfast situation is pretty decent too – nothing Instagram-worthy, but real food that’ll get you going for the day.

Here’s the thing about this place that I really respect – it knows exactly what it is. It’s a reliable 3-star that doesn’t pretend to be anything else, but it executes everything really well. The neighborhood gets lively in the evenings but quiets down by around 10 PM, so you can actually sleep. Parking isn’t a nightmare if you have a car, which honestly puts it ahead of half the hotels in central Baku. The 7 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to take care of you properly without breaking the bank. If you’re the type who wants to spend your money on exploring the city rather than just sitting in a fancy hotel room, this is your spot. Plus, there’s this little tea house about two blocks down that the front desk guy told me about – definitely not in any guidebooks, but the locals pack it every afternoon.

  Just the fact that it was better than the hotel I had to move out of and easily bookable to get me out of a tough situation.
  
  What could be improved: They mention non-smoking rooms but everything smelled as if previous people were smoking before us, might be the norm there but it was advertised as non smoking.
