ibis Baku City Overview
So I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the ibis Baku City on Xocalı prospekti, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? This spot actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby has that clean, modern ibis vibe (you know the chain if you’ve traveled around Europe), but there’s something distinctly Baku about the way the staff greets you – genuinely warm, not just going through the motions.
The location is what really sold me on this place, though. I mean, you’re right on one of the main arteries heading into the city center, which sounds like it could be noisy, but honestly the rooms are well-insulated. What’s brilliant is that you can actually walk to some decent restaurants and cafes – there’s this little place about three blocks down that does incredible plov that none of the guidebooks mention. The metro situation isn’t terrible either, though you’ll probably end up taking taxis most places if you’re here for business (which, let’s face it, most people are). Parking was surprisingly painless, which anyone who’s driven in Baku will tell you is no small miracle.
The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d expect from ibis – nothing fancy, but everything works. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), the shower has decent water pressure, and the AC kept up with Baku’s summer heat without sounding like a jet engine. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone’s paying attention – the outlets are positioned where you actually need them, there’s enough light to read by, and the blackout curtains actually block light. The WiFi held up fine for video calls, though it gets a bit sluggish during peak hours when the hotel’s full. One small thing that bugged me was the coffee situation – the in-room setup is pretty basic, so if you’re serious about your morning coffee, there’s a decent spot downstairs or you can walk to that Turkish place around the corner that opens early.
Staff-wise, they’re helpful without being hovering, and most speak enough English to sort out whatever you need. The front desk guy (wish I remembered his name) gave me actual useful advice about getting around the Old City and warned me about the construction on Nizami street that was making traffic even worse than usual. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference when you’re trying to get somewhere on time.
Look, this isn’t going to be the highlight of your trip to Baku – it’s not trying to be. But for what it is – a solid, reliable place to sleep and shower with decent service and a location that doesn’t make you feel cut off from everything – it really delivers. That 8.3 rating makes perfect sense to me. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I needed somewhere dependable without the fuss of a fancier hotel.

Reviews of ibis Baku City
Book ibis – Memory from United Arab Emirates – 14 July 2025 (8/10)
Very clean and comfortable. Rooms are bigger than what you see from the pictures. We took leap of faith and booked ibis, I was surprised that their rooms are not too small, but from the pic budget rooms looks tiny. They need to hire new photographer
What could be improved: Tv wasn’t workingClean and Comfortable – Alper from Turkey – 6 July 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was good, there were many options and the options are kind of high quality. The room and other areas in the hotel were clear. There were complimentary water and sprite in the reception but only for the working hours. I can summarize my experience as a decent stay. If you are looking for a clean and comfortable accomodation, I'd recommend this place.
What could be improved: Our plane arrived at quite a strange time, at dawn. They requested full room price for early check-in and they did not allowed to go to room until the check-in time is "exactly" reached. Maybe they might provide a better option for the visitors arriving at strange times.Superb – Lobo from Pakistan – 20 June 2025 (9/10)
The staff was great, the room was clean and better than I expected. The interior was very trendy too.
Will definitely come back! 🙂
What could be improved: No kettle in the room 🙁Comfortable bed – Silvana from United States – 17 June 2025 (8/10)
Room was comfortable. No complaints about anything.
What could be improved: NothingSuperb – Gal from Israel – 31 May 2025 (9/10)
Clean and comfortable, well maintained , good ac, nice view.
What could be improved: It would be nice to have some more vegan options in breakfast, it’s kinda far from the city center touristic area but there’s a metro station nearby and its pretty easy to use itGreat hotel for a short stay. Affordable and chill – Nataly from United Arab Emirates – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
Very chill and cool hotel perfect for resting after touring around
What could be improved: Not room service at the hotel, the food at the restaurant took an eternity to arrive and there was only 2 tables…but the rest was really goodI would book again. – Venerleen from United Arab Emirates – 2 May 2025 (7/10)
The decor
What could be improved: No coffee making facilities in the roomGood option for budget travel – Hande from Turkey – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
The location was perfect, close to the city center but not too outside. Metro is close as well as buses. The room was clean and not too tiny.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the doors are closed by slamming thus too noisy at night. The pillows weren’t comfortable, might be asking for additional one.Clean, modern, good value for money – Mohd from United Arab Emirates – 23 April 2025 (9/10)
Modern look. Clean rooms. Good service. Great price. Nice coffee shops and bakeries nearby to grab breakfast, other than the in-house restaurant.
What could be improved: As other reviewers have mentioned, temperature control in the room could not be adjusted. Cracking open the window at the cost of privacy did help a little, but still not comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep.Superb – Mushtaq from Pakistan – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
It is nice and economical but need to add live omelette 😋
