Shakespeare apartment by Bakuapart Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Shakespeare apartment? It’s actually tucked away on Əbdülkərim Əlizadə street in a way that feels refreshingly quiet for Sabayil district. I mean, you’re still right in the heart of things – I could walk to the Boulevard in about ten minutes – but there’s this sense of being in a real neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble.
The apartment itself has this lived-in charm that honestly works better than I expected. It’s not trying to be fancy (it’s a solid 3-star setup), but everything you need is there and actually functions properly, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in budget places around the Caspian knows that’s not always guaranteed. The kitchen had decent cookware, and I appreciated that the Wi-Fi didn’t drop every five minutes like some places I’ve crashed at in Baku. What really sold me was the morning light – these big windows that let you wake up naturally instead of feeling like you’re in some windowless hotel box. The street gets a bit of foot traffic during the day, but it quiets down nicely in the evenings, so you’re not dealing with constant noise if you’re trying to decompress after wandering around the Old City all day.
Here’s the thing about staying in Sabayil – you’re genuinely positioned well for both the historical stuff and the modern Baku experience. From this spot, you can easily walk to Icherisheher when you want that medieval atmosphere, but you’re also close enough to the Flame Towers area when you want to see the flashier side of the city. The hosts (Bakuapart manages several places around town) were straightforward with check-in instructions, and I didn’t have to deal with any of that “meet me at some random corner” nonsense. They clearly know what they’re doing. I’d say this works especially well if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two – it’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in a bit, maybe grab some fresh bread from the local spots and have a proper breakfast instead of rushing out to find overpriced hotel food. The whole setup just feels more… I don’t know, authentic? Like you’re getting a slice of how people actually live in this part of the city rather than being stuck in some generic accommodation that could be anywhere.
