What really impressed me was the attention to details like proper blackout curtains and solid WiFi throughout. I’ve stayed in supposed five-star places in Baku where the internet cut out every hour.

The building itself is surprisingly quiet considering you’re on a fairly busy street – seems like they invested in decent soundproofing, which you’ll appreciate if you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. Check-in was smooth, though like most places in Baku, having some basic Russian phrases helps if your host’s English is limited. The 9.7 rating makes sense when you experience the place – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to central Baku), but there are usually spots within a block or two. If you’re planning to visit during the Formula 1 season or Novruz, definitely book way ahead because places like this in Sabayil get snapped up fast. For the money and location, especially if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Baku rather than some international hotel bubble, it’s a solid choice.
