Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Baku, and Address City Centre Apartment on Əlimərdan Topçubaşov really surprised me – honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the name, but this place gets everything right. The location is actually perfect if you know Baku at all; you’re right in Nasimi district where locals actually live and work, not stuck in some tourist bubble. I mean, you can walk to Fountain Square in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also surrounded by those great little bakeries and tea houses that most visitors never find. The street itself is pretty quiet considering how central you are – I was worried about traffic noise, but the apartment faces away from the main road, so you actually get decent sleep.

What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up inside. The kitchen actually works (you know how rare that is in rental apartments), and whoever furnished this place clearly thought about what people need when they’re staying somewhere for more than just a night. There’s proper counter space, decent lighting, and – this might sound silly – but the shower pressure is fantastic. You’d be amazed how many places in the city center have terrible water pressure. The whole space feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I loved. There are these little touches too, like local art on the walls and books about Azerbaijan that you can actually flip through. The wifi is solid, which matters if you’re trying to get work done or video call home.

Here’s the thing though – and this is why I’d definitely stay here again – it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Baku rather than just visiting it. In the mornings, you hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque mixing with street vendors starting their day, and there’s this amazing bread smell that drifts up from the bakery downstairs around 7 AM. The host was incredibly helpful without being pushy; they actually gave me a hand-drawn map with their favorite local spots marked, which was way more useful than any guidebook. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the Old City when you want that tourist experience, but you can also just wander the neighborhood and stumble onto things like that incredible qutab place two blocks over that doesn’t even have a sign. Honestly, for the price point and the perfect 10 rating it’s got, I can see why – it’s one of those rare finds where everything just works the way it should.
