What really got me was the attention to detail inside – they’ve managed to preserve these incredible architectural elements without making it feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The rooms have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort, though I’ll be honest, some of the bathrooms are a bit snug due to the building’s age. But the staff… wow. They genuinely know their stuff about Baku’s history and will point you toward the best local spots without that rehearsed tour-guide vibe. The woman at reception told me about this tiny tea house just two streets over that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being a highlight of my trip. Check-in was smooth as butter too – none of that awkward standing around while they figure out their computer system.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to actually experience Baku rather than just see it from a tour bus. You’re a five-minute walk from the Caspian Sea waterfront, and getting to the modern parts of the city is easy enough, though parking can be tricky if you’ve got a rental car (the narrow Old City streets weren’t exactly designed for modern traffic). Evenings are particularly magical here – the stone streets get this warm glow from the traditional lanterns, and there’s usually some gentle activity from the restaurants and cafes nearby, but it quiets down nicely by 10 PM. With that 9.7 rating, you’d expect perfection, and while it’s not flawless (the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms), it’s one of those places where the character and genuine hospitality more than make up for any minor technical hiccups. If you’re the type who appreciates staying somewhere with real soul rather than a cookie-cutter chain hotel, this is your spot.

  Очень доброжелательные сотрудники, понравилось, что был постоянный доступ к кухне и мы по сути были предоставлены сами себе. Вкусные завтраки, свежие продукты и достаточно разнообразные. Кофе, чай в неограниченном и постоянном доступе. Ребята помогли с организацией экскурсии по очень приятным ценам.
