So I spent a few nights at the Passage Modern Hotel on Nizami Street, and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things in Baku. You’re literally on one of the main pedestrian streets – I mean, you step outside and you’re already surrounded by cafes, shops, and that constant buzz of people walking around. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab your morning coffee and just watch the city wake up, which I actually found myself doing more than once.

The hotel itself is… well, it’s solid. Four stars feels about right – not trying to be something it’s not, but definitely comfortable enough. The rooms are modern (hence the name, I guess), with that clean, minimalist vibe that works well after you’ve been wandering around the Old City all day. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, despite being right on Nizami Street. The windows must be pretty decent because you don’t get the street noise you’d expect. Check-in was smooth – the staff actually knew some English, which honestly can be hit or miss in this part of town.

You know what’s great about staying here? You’re walking distance to basically everything that matters. Fountain Square is like a five-minute stroll, the Old City walls are maybe ten minutes if you take your time, and there are tons of restaurants within a block or two. I found this little bakery just around the corner that does incredible fresh bread in the mornings – the kind of local spot you only discover when you’re staying somewhere central like this. The metro station isn’t far either, so getting to other parts of Baku is pretty straightforward. I will say the area can get pretty busy during peak tourist season (summer months especially), but that’s more about the location than the hotel itself. The 7.2 rating seems fair – it’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers on what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more interested in exploring the city than hanging out in your room.

  The location of the hotel is very good, and staff is also friendly. Breakfast is decent and you can ask them to make eggs the way you like. Timing of breakfast is amazing from 8 am to 12 pm so thats a plus for those who like to sleep in till late.
