It’s got that lived-in comfort that beats sterile hotel rooms every time – you know, real coffee cups instead of tiny paper ones, a couch you can actually sprawl on, and a kitchen where you can grab some fresh pomegranates from the local market and not feel weird about eating them at 2 AM. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually need because there’s solid WiFi (tested it during a work call, no dropouts), decent water pressure, and – this might sound small but trust me – really good blackout curtains. Super important when you’re dealing with those bright summer mornings and jet lag.

What I really love about the location is how it sits right in that sweet spot between local life and tourist accessibility. Walk one direction and you’re at 28 Mall if you need familiar shopping, but wander the other way and you’ll find yourself in neighborhoods where old Azerbaijani men play backgammon outside corner shops that smell like fresh bread and strong tea. The street itself is pretty quiet at night – I’m usually sensitive to city noise but slept fine with the windows cracked open. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re renting a car (most spots are taken by locals), but honestly, you don’t really need one from here. The metro’s close enough, and taxis are cheap and everywhere.

The only minor thing – and I’m really reaching here – is that the building entrance is a bit worn looking from the outside, so don’t let that throw you off. Once you’re inside, it’s clean and well-maintained. Also, definitely coordinate your arrival time because there’s not always someone at the building, though the owner was super responsive over WhatsApp when I needed anything. Actually stayed here during a busy conference week in October and still felt like I had my own little slice of the city rather than being stuck in some generic business hotel out by the airport.
