You know what surprised me most about Parliament Hotel? It’s tucked right into Icherisheher – the Old City – which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for Baku. I mean, you’re literally sleeping inside these ancient walls that have been around since the 12th century, and when you step out onto Magomayev street in the morning, there’s this incredible mix of tourists taking selfies and locals just going about their business.

The hotel itself has that solid 4-star feel without trying too hard to impress you with flashy stuff. What I really appreciated was how quiet my room stayed despite being in such a central spot – you’d think with all the foot traffic from people exploring the Maiden Tower and the palace complex nearby, it would be chaos, but the old stone walls actually do a pretty good job of keeping things peaceful. The restaurant downstairs is actually worth eating at too, which isn’t always the case with hotel restaurants, you know? They do this amazing plov that locals seem to approve of (always a good sign), and the staff there genuinely knows the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the less touristy spots.

Here’s what I’d tell anyone thinking about staying here – it’s one of those places where the location does most of the heavy lifting, but in the best possible way. You’re a five-minute walk from the Shirvanshah’s Palace, you can wander down to the Caspian waterfront whenever you want, and honestly, getting back to your room after a long day of exploring feels like retreating into this little historical bubble. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works the way it should, the beds are comfortable, and there’s something pretty special about falling asleep in a place where merchants were doing business centuries before hotels were even a thing. Plus, and this might sound silly, but there’s this particular smell in the Old City – sort of like old stone mixed with sea air and coffee – that just seeps into everything, including your hotel room, in a way that makes the whole experience feel more authentic than staying in some generic place out by the modern shopping centers.

  Some hotels are just rooms. This one felt like a little world. From the friendly older man at the door who helped with our luggage to the smell of baked bread from the kitchen in the morning it felt warm, human, real. I didn’t expect to be emotionally attached to a hotel, but here we are.

  First of all the location, the hotel situated in the centre of Baku. Very comfortable boutique-hotel, service was very good, rooms were clean, friendly and helpfull staff. I was also satisfied with breakfast, full and tasty. I recommend this hotel to all guests.
