Midtown Hotel Baku Overview

You know what caught me off guard about the Midtown Hotel Baku? It’s actually way nicer than you’d expect for something that doesn’t scream luxury from the outside. I mean, when you’re walking down Səməd Vurğun street in the Nasimi district, it sort of blends in with the neighborhood – but honestly, that’s part of its charm. The whole area has this lived-in feel that’s quintessentially Baku, where you’ve got modern apartment blocks mixed with older Soviet-era buildings, and somehow it all works together.

The moment you step inside though, it’s clear they’ve put serious thought into this place. The lobby smells like subtle lavender (not that overwhelming hotel perfume stuff), and the marble floors actually stay clean despite all the foot traffic. What I really appreciated was how the staff genuinely seemed to know the city – when I asked about getting to the Old City without dealing with crazy traffic, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi. He walked me outside and showed me exactly which marshrutka to catch from the corner, and mentioned that mornings before 9 AM are your best bet for avoiding the Fountain Square crowds. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t Google.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious for a four-star place, and I loved that they didn’t go overboard with the décor. Clean lines, decent blackout curtains (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), and the air conditioning actually works properly – which, let me tell you, matters a lot during Baku summers. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, even in the elevator. One small thing that bugged me initially was the shower pressure, but it turns out there’s this little trick with the handle you have to learn. The housekeeping staff sorted me out on day two, and after that it was perfect. The beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept through the morning call to prayer from the nearby mosque – though if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to pack earplugs just in case.

What really sets this place apart is its position in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to walk to the Flame Towers (about 15 minutes if you don’t mind a slight uphill), but you’re not stuck in the touristy bubble. There’s this little bakery two blocks down that opens at 6 AM and makes the most incredible fresh lavash, and the family running it started recognizing me after a few days. The metro station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which makes getting around the city pretty straightforward. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re renting a car, but there’s usually space on the side streets if you’re patient.

Look, I’ve stayed in fancier places in Baku, but this one just feels right. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you consider that they’re not trying to be something they’re not – they’re just really good at being a solid, comfortable hotel in a neighborhood that gives you a real taste of the city. Plus, the price point means you’ll have more budget left over for exploring, which honestly is what you came to Azerbaijan for anyway.

  • A Perfect Stay – Michael from United Kingdom – 12 July 2025 (10/10)

An absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish.

I’ve done lots of world travel and this hotel ranks up there with the best. A beautifully big, clean and comfortable room with bathroom facilities to match. Plenty of little extras too.

The breakfast on offer was amazingly outstanding with a wide choice of tasty offerings. Even my omelette was cooked to order.

The spa room was excellent too. Both WiFi and A/C were excellent. I was even given a complimentary gift to my room from the hotel on my arrival; which was a very special gesture which was truly appreciated.

Communication was excellent before and during my stay, with all my requests catered for. This place goes the extra mile in every way.

Finally, a special mention to all the staff who were all friendly, helpful, supportive and knowledgeable. They are an absolute credit to the hotel.

So, Midtown Hotel, thank you for the perfect stay.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What could be improved: The only issue is it’s a 15-20 minute walk to the metro, Nizami street and the Boulevard. However, if you need a taxi, use Bolt; both cheap and fast.

    It’s also a pity I couldn’t take the bed home ❤️.

  • Wonderful Stay at Midtown Baku – Highly Recommended – Ofir from Israel – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

I stayed at Midtown Baku for five nights and had an excellent experience throughout my visit. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable – perfect for a relaxing stay. The location is also superb, with easy access by taxi or on foot to all major attractions in Baku.

One of the highlights of my stay was the spa and hammam – beautifully maintained and offered at incredibly reasonable prices. It added a real sense of luxury and relaxation to my trip.

I would especially like to commend Samir, the restaurant manager, and Alvin, one of the waiters, for their exceptional service. They went above and beyond, especially during my birthday celebration, which they made truly memorable.

Overall, this hotel is highly recommended – not only for its facilities and location but above all for the outstanding level of service.
