Molokan Inn Hotel Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Molokan Inn – it’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Qoqol, and from the outside it looks pretty unassuming. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the curb.
The location is actually brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Xaqani Garden (the locals still call it Molokan Garden, which is where the hotel gets its name), and I mean, this isn’t just any park – it’s this lovely green space where you’ll see old Azeri men playing backgammon in the afternoons and families having picnics on weekends. The Sabayil district has this authentic Baku vibe that you miss if you’re staying in the flashier tourist areas. I could walk to the Old City from here, though honestly, after a long day of sightseeing, I was grateful for the quiet streets around the hotel. The traffic noise that plagues other parts of central Baku just… doesn’t reach here somehow.
What really won me over was how the staff treated me – not like a walking credit card, but like someone they actually wanted to help. The front desk guy (I think his name was Elvin?) knew every decent restaurant within walking distance and steered me away from the obvious tourist traps. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed at. The WiFi actually reaches all corners of the building, the hot water is reliably hot, and the beds are firm enough that you don’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock. I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the decor – it’s simple, modern touches without trying to be something it’s not. The windows are decent quality too, so even though you’re in the city center, you’re not dealing with street noise at night. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated key card systems that never work, just “here’s your room, here’s how to get to the good stuff nearby.” For a three-star place with a 9 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it completely.

A relatively new hotel, in a green and pleasant location near the old city and close to most of the interesting things in Baku on foot. A varied and fresh breakfast, I got exactly the room I asked for with a balcony overlooking the greenery of the adjacent park, the room was spacious and comfortable,
the hotel staff was very kind and pleasant and helped as much as possible with my requests.

excellent breakfast with daily variety
friendly staff
excellent housekeeping. they even gave us different teabags daily which was a nice touch
What could be improved: no room service (use bolt food app)
shower was good but temperature kept jumping to extreme heat randomly
parking is at a nearby multistory. reasonable price at 12 azn per day but very busy and hard to find parking on weekends. not to mention extreme level of traffic in city center. advise not to drive! bolt is cheap and way less hassle. traffic is mental as it's 3+ lanes merging into a 1 way tiny roadAbsolutely amazing location with super friendly and helpful staff – Cindy from Canada – 3 December 2024 (10/10)
Amazing location, style, breakfast, friendly staff. Would stay again!
Superb – Maria from Saudi Arabia – 24 November 2024 (9/10)
