Mirror Design Hotels Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Mirror Design Hotels? The name makes it sound like some flashy, Instagram-obsessed place, but honestly, it’s way more understated than that. I mean, sure, there are some sleek reflective elements in the lobby design, but it’s not overwhelming – more like thoughtful touches that actually work with the space rather than screaming for attention.

The location on Nizami Street is pretty sweet, actually. You’re right in Yasamal, which I’d describe as Baku’s version of a livable neighborhood that hasn’t been completely touristified yet. There’s this great little bakery about two blocks down where locals grab their morning bread – I stumbled across it on my second day and ended up going back every morning because the smell of fresh tandir bread is just impossible to resist. The metro station is close enough that you can walk it in decent weather, though honestly, the marshrutka buses are kind of fun if you want to feel like you’re really experiencing local life (just prepare for some creative driving).

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the city. When I asked about getting to the Old City, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he actually sketched out a little walking route that took me through some quieter streets where you can see more of everyday Baku life. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The Wi-Fi actually delivers on its promises, the shower has decent water pressure, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock.

I will say the street can get a bit noisy during rush hour – Nizami sees its share of traffic – but it dies down pretty significantly after about 9 PM. The building’s windows do a decent job of muffling most of it anyway. What surprised me most was how quiet the hotel itself stays; you’d think a 3-star place in the middle of the city would have paper-thin walls, but I barely heard my neighbors even during what seemed like a busy weekend.

The breakfast spread isn’t going to win any awards, but there’s proper Azerbaijani tea (served the right way, in those little pear-shaped glasses), decent local cheese, and fresh tomatoes that actually taste like something. Plus, they don’t rush you out if you want to linger over your tea and plan your day – something I really appreciated since I’m not exactly a morning person.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place that’s going to blow you away with luxury, but it does something arguably more valuable: it gives you a solid, comfortable base in a genuinely local part of Baku without making you feel like you’re staying in some sterile international chain. For the price point, especially considering that 9.4 rating isn’t just marketing fluff, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice if you want to experience the city rather than just pass through it.

Reviews of Mirror Design Hotels

  • Please tell your other hotel that if your customer hot confuse with Mirror Design Hotel and Grand Mirror Hotel, dont let – John from United Arab Emirates – 21 July 2025 (7/10)

Property is close to everyone. Nice location and quiet.

What could be improved: Looks old, breakfast is on the different building. I almost got scammed by other hotel, Grand Mirror Hotel which place is very dirty and not recommended.

  • Poor old hotel with good location – Khadija from United Arab Emirates – 17 July 2025 (4/10)

    Location only

What could be improved: The hotel does not provide the simplest needs such as cleanliness. We stayed there for five nights without any cleaning of the room. There were no daily water bottles, no coffee, and no kettle. Our reservation was for a 35 square meter room. Unfortunately, there is a lie about the size of the rooms. The air conditioner is very old and small and is not enough to cool the entire room. The breakfast is very very simple and there is no variety. Unfortunately, we were not able to eat it and had to have breakfast in an outside restaurant. The location is beautiful, but the hotel needs a lot of modifications and renovations because it is weak and not suitable for Arabs in general.
