New Baku Hotel Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the New Baku Hotel on Hasan Aliyev Street – it’s tucked into this sort of residential-commercial mix in Nasimi that looks pretty ordinary from the outside. But you know what? Sometimes those unassuming spots turn out to be exactly what you need, and this place really grew on me during my stay.
The location is actually pretty smart once you figure out the neighborhood. You’re far enough from the tourist chaos around the Old City to get some peace, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you anywhere you want to be in Baku. I mean, the Flame Towers are maybe fifteen minutes away on foot if you don’t mind the walk, and there’s this little local bakery just down the street that does incredible fresh bread in the mornings – the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed in one of those big international chains downtown. The staff here actually knows the area well, which is refreshing. When I asked about getting to the Carpet Museum, the front desk guy didn’t just give me generic directions; he told me which marshrutka to catch and warned me about the construction on Neftchilar Avenue that week.
What really works about this place is that it feels like they’re trying without being pretentious about it. The rooms are clean and comfortable – not fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier hotels I’ve stayed at in the region. The shower pressure is decent (always a gamble in older buildings), and the air conditioning actually keeps up with Baku’s summer heat. I had a room facing the courtyard, which meant it stayed pretty quiet even though you’re still in the city. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, and there’s this small business center off the lobby that’s handy if you need to print boarding passes or whatever. Check-in was smooth, and they speak enough English to handle most questions, though having a few Russian phrases definitely helps for more detailed conversations. The breakfast spread is nothing fancy – typical continental setup – but the tea is proper strong tea, and they usually have some local honey that’s worth trying. My only real complaint is that the elevators can be slow when everyone’s trying to head out in the morning, but that’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. For an 8.1 rating, this place delivers what it promises without any major surprises either way.

Once arrived the hotel, I was in doubt after looking at the lobby, it was dark and hot. But once we come to our rooms it was cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and have a good variety. Manager Ayas, was very cooperative and he also arranged a van in which we explored different cities. The driver "Alirza" he provided was very kind and friendly. It was a great stay.
