Ganjali Plaza Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Ganjali Plaza? Walking up to this four-star place on Uzeyir Hajibeyov Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Sabayil district where things can get pretty hectic. But stepping inside, there’s this immediate shift from the street chaos to something genuinely welcoming. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood rhythm. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Caspian waterfront, and I found myself taking these random evening strolls along the boulevard without even planning to. The Old City walls are close enough that you can easily duck in for some proper Azerbaijani tea between your tourist obligations. What I really appreciated – and this is something you don’t always get in Baku – is that the hotel sits just far enough back from the main Neftchilar Avenue madness that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise, but you’re still connected to everything that matters. The metro situation is decent too, though honestly, most of what you’ll want to see is walkable from here.
Here’s the thing about the service that surprised me: the staff actually knows the area beyond just pointing you toward the obvious attractions. When I asked about finding good dolma that wasn’t tourist-trap pricing, the front desk guy gave me these specific directions to a little place near the Maiden Tower that locals actually use. The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot between comfortable and practical – nothing fancy, but the beds are solid, the bathrooms work properly (trust me, this matters in Baku), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. I stayed during one of those sweltering July weeks, and honestly, coming back to a genuinely cool room each evening felt like a small miracle. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the basics really well and throws in some genuinely thoughtful touches. Check-in was smooth, the wifi actually worked throughout the building, and when I needed to extend my stay by a night, they made it happen without any drama. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a city that can be a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to it.

Reviews of Ganjali Plaza Hotel
Superb – Jakkrapat from Thailand – 18 December 2024 (9/10)
The service and location were great. We stayed during the COP29 which the price was too much, however, the experience there was great for us.
Good – Sana from India – 18 April 2024 (7/10)
The room size was a major plus point compared to most hotels at the same rate. Moreover the room was clean, housekeeping was provided on daily basis. Room service and housekeeping attended efficiently. Breakfast though simple, was sufficient. Ample towels and bathrobes.
What could be improved: The location was in a dark and dingy alley, though close to town. That was a little putting off.
There was no aisle to pull the luggage and it had to be carried over the staircase. Also no trolley to move the luggage in.
No AC which was not an issue during our stay in April 1st week. But summers can tend to get hot because of it.Superb – Jana from Czech Republic – 11 February 2024 (9/10)
Hotel room and willingnes of hotel staff
What could be improved: Location in the backyard and quite noisy asbit is close to main city highway.Very good – Mohamed from United Arab Emirates – 9 January 2024 (8/10)
The rooms were in good condition the bathrooms were great and receptionist were very helpful and very kind with us, the most thing that I liked about this hotel that it doesn't allow you to bring anyone from outside, this hotel is better for family or couples. Also, the breakfast was good but be aware they don't change the buffet everyday as it's consider a family hotel not a 5 star hotel.
