Dinamo Hotel Baku Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Dinamo Hotel on Zarifa Aliyeva Street – I mean, it’s tucked into this quieter part of Sabayil, away from all the tourist chaos around the Old City. But walking through those doors? Yeah, this place gets it right in ways that actually matter.

The thing about Dinamo is that it feels like someone who really understands Baku designed it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Caspian Sea promenade, which locals call the Boulevard – and trust me, you’ll want those morning walks along the water before the city wakes up. The hotel sits on this tree-lined street that’s perfectly positioned between the business district and the cultural heart of the city, so you’re not stuck in some sterile corporate zone, but you’re also not dealing with the late-night party noise from Fountain Square (though honestly, that’s only a problem on weekends).

What really sold me was the attention to small stuff that most places completely miss. The rooms have these thick curtains that actually block out the early morning sun – crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag and Baku’s super bright summer mornings. The bathroom fixtures feel substantial, not like they’ll break if you look at them wrong, and there’s enough counter space to actually spread out your toiletries. You know what I loved? The elevator moves fast and quietly – sounds silly, but when you’re on the eighth floor and running late for a morning meeting, these things matter. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about finding good local tea, the front desk guy sent me to this tiny place three blocks away that serves the most incredible black tea with cardamom – definitely not somewhere I’d have stumbled across on my own.

The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, and they actually have decent coffee (which, let’s be real, isn’t always guaranteed in this part of the world). What impressed me most was how the place handles the evening rush – Baku’s business crowd comes and goes pretty efficiently around 6 PM, but the hotel never feels chaotic or understaffed. The Wi-Fi works everywhere, including the lobby where I ended up working a few evenings because the atmosphere was just right – busy enough to feel energetic, quiet enough to concentrate. If you’re staying here, definitely ask for a room facing the courtyard side; the street can get a bit noisy during morning rush hour, but it’s nothing terrible. Overall, Dinamo feels like what a city hotel should be – professional and polished, but with enough personality that you remember why you picked Baku in the first place.

Reviews of Dinamo Hotel Baku

  • Exceptional – Анна from Russia – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

    everything was just perfect!

  • Super nice and comfortable stay – Laura from Latvia – 21 May 2025 (10/10)

Super kind and helpful staff. Enjoyed Spa area and swimming pool. Comfortable rooms with all necessary in it. Highly recommended.

What could be improved: Really nothing

  • A fantastic stay in the heart of Baku! – Smid from Netherlands – 16 May 2025 (9/10)

My stay at the Dinamo Hotel Baku was truly wonderful. The room was spacious and luxurious, with over 60 m² of comfort and style, perfect for relaxing after a day in the city.
The bathroom was a real highlight: very spacious, with a separate toilet and shower. The large rain shower was incredibly genereus, easily big enough for eight People, giving a real spa-like experience.
The location of the hotel is ideal: centrally located, within walking distance of the charming Old Town and the lively boulevard. For F1 fans, it’s a bonus that the circuit is also nearby.
I also used the spa, hammam, and massage facilities, what an experience! The staff were highly professional and clearly knew what they were doing. Truly deserving of compliments!

Special praise for Elgun, who is a real asset to the hotel. He’s always available to take you anywhere or pick you up, and he truly takes care of everything. Thanks to him, both the airport pickup and return were perfectly arrange. Sightseeing Baku, contact Elgun!

What really made the stay complete was the overall staff: warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. I felt immediately at home and well taken care of.

What could be improved: A minor downside is that the room was a bit noisy, street sounds were quite noticeable, especially at night, which could disturb your sleep. There were also some stains on the carpet, which slightly detracted from the otherwise luxurious feel.
Still, I would absolutely return here. The positives far outweigh the small negatives. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Baku in comfort and style.

  • We took 4 days, in overall it was good, fare price for value. Next time will consider Dinamo hotel. – Igal from Israel – 30 April 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location. Big size of rooms. Friendly staff. After I reported about bath tube problems, they upgraded us to suite, so it was good.

What could be improved: AC was very weak. In hot day it takes hours to cool a room. There were maintenance problems with coffee machine and bath tube. They were fixed after I called, but I would expect that to work in 5-stars hotel, without a need for guest to discover and report maintenance problems.

  • A luxury leisure – Mehmet from Turkey – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

    Like: location, breakfast, room, staff
    Dislike: nothing

  • Would highly recommend the Dinamo for its location, facilities and staff – Neil from Ireland – 2 April 2025 (9/10)

    Great location and friendly staff

  • Superb – Juris from Latvia – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

The room was very big and spacy, well equipped and clean.

What could be improved: The breakfast was a bit poor.

  • Definitely recommend – Selina from Australia – 4 February 2025 (9/10)

This hotel was fabulous. The decor and design were lovely and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Well located to various attractions.

What could be improved: The window in my room didn’t seal properly which meant I heard traffic noise for most of the night. Azerbaijani drivers love to use their horn… I’m sure this can be resolved with a little maintenance

  • Very simpatique – Antonier from Cyprus – 20 January 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic design and super location, nice SPA and swimming pool with panorama roof

What could be improved: The 4 floor does not have access by lift

  • Great pool and spa – Jyoti from United Kingdom – 17 October 2024 (8/10)

Really nice spa and pool, hardly used when we stayed so we had it to ourselves. Staff really helpful and available. Breakfast was fine but not special, it was worth ordering freshly made omelettes etc. Room was spacious and comfortable, well equipped, automations for opening the curtains / adjusting lights etc.

What could be improved: The soundtrack on loop got a bit annoying.
