Da Vinci Boutique Hotel Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Da Vinci Boutique Hotel on Vali Mammadov street – I mean, the name sounds a bit pretentious, right? But walking into the lobby actually stopped me in my tracks. There’s this gorgeous blend of Renaissance-inspired touches with modern Azerbaijani design elements that somehow doesn’t feel forced or cheesy. The staff greeted me in perfect English (which, let me tell you, isn’t always a given in Baku), and check-in was refreshingly smooth – no hidden fees or awkward upselling attempts.

What really won me over was the location. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Old City walls, and I could see the Flame Towers from my room window. But here’s what the booking sites don’t tell you – you’re also walking distance from some incredible local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this tiny tea house just around the corner where locals gather in the evenings, and the hotel concierge (ask for Rashid, he’s brilliant) actually knew about it and gave me proper directions. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re not huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed. The bathroom marble feels expensive, the bed was legitimately comfortable, and – this matters more than you’d think – the air conditioning actually works properly, even during those brutal August days when Baku hits 35°C.

I stayed there during Novruz season, so the city was pretty bustling, but the hotel manages to stay surprisingly quiet. The windows have decent soundproofing, which you’ll appreciate since Baku can get lively at night. Parking was sorted without drama (they have a small lot behind the building), and the breakfast spread was way better than typical hotel fare – proper local cheeses, fresh bread, and they make a mean Turkish coffee if you ask nicely. Look, it’s not the fanciest place in the city, but there’s something genuine about it that I really appreciated. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you consider that everyone working there seems to actually care about what they’re doing, rather than just going through the motions. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Bakuvian without sacrificing comfort, this is your spot.

Reviews of Da Vinci Boutique Hotel

  • Perfect Spot, Comfy Stay & Lovely Staff – Marian from Philippines – 1 July 2025 (9/10)

The location was ideal. The room was really spacious and comfortable, and the staff were absolutely lovely.

What could be improved: There’s no lift, but the staff kindly carried my bags down the stairs.

  • Very good – Igrar from United States – 28 June 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Issues charging credit card the amount larger 100 manats. Had to pay in several instalments

  • Great Old city location hotel – Roman from Kazakhstan – 21 March 2025 (10/10)

Great cozy cleany hotel. Heart of Old city location. Great view on a terrace with a cup of hot azerbaijanian tea. Warm room, fast hot water.

What could be improved: Everything went well

  • I can recommend it if you want to live in the Old City. – Yevgeniy from Kazakhstan – 20 March 2025 (10/10)

The location is impressive. It is in the heart of the Old City, so it just like breathes with a history. All famous places are easy reachable from this point, so you can get to most of them by foot. The hotel has tasty breakfasts and nice staff that will help you with everything you need.

What could be improved: I don’t recommend use laundry services there. The first time I left my hoodie for laundry, they returned it back with the same stain, so laundry wasn’t really quality. But it doesn’t relate with the hotel itself, cause it is kinda external service company. But the guys from reception helped me to send the hoodie to the dry one more time for free and then I finally got my hoodie without the stain.

  • Good place with nice staff, recommending for a pleasant stay. – Darko_dd from North Macedonia – 30 January 2025 (10/10)

Very nice, small but cozy hotel. Excellent location. Good place for a short and pleasant stay. Both guys at the reception were very polite, friendly and helpful. I recommend this small boutique hotel 👍

What could be improved: Nothing in particular

  • Exceptional – Abdulaziz from Bahrain – 1 December 2024 (10/10)

Vadim was the best person I have dealt with, he is very respectful, friendly, nice and calm.
I stayed in the hotel for one night before and it was a comfortable night, so I decided to repeat the experience in the same hotel before leaving Azerbaijan because of the good treatment and professionalism of the employees.
Vadim was able to answer all my questions and always providing help and was nice.
The breakfast is very, very, very delicious.
I suggest this hotel to everyone who will visit Baku even for one night.
The hotel is close to many tourist places.

  • Superb – Rizwan from Saudi Arabia – 25 November 2024 (9/10)
