Colour Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Colour? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – there’s this really thoughtful use of color throughout the place that feels intentional without being overwhelming. It’s tucked away in the Badamdart area, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (the taxi driver had to call for directions), but that’s sort of the charm of it. You’re in this residential neighborhood that feels authentically Baku, not touristy at all.
The location is interesting – you’re far enough from the chaos of the Old City to actually get some sleep, but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you to all the main spots. I mean, you’re not walking to Flame Towers from here, but the trade-off is worth it. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with local shops and cafés, and I actually enjoyed wandering around in the evenings. The building itself sits on this quiet street where you can hear normal life happening – kids playing, neighbors chatting – which I found way more relaxing than being stuck in some sterile hotel district.
What really impressed me was the attention to detail inside. The rooms are genuinely comfortable (not just Instagram-pretty), with blackout curtains that actually work and air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train. The staff clearly takes pride in the place – check-in was smooth, and when I had questions about getting around the city, they gave me actual useful advice, not just generic tourist stuff. The WiFi is solid throughout, which matters if you’re trying to work or stay connected. Parking was straightforward too, which isn’t always a given in Baku. Honestly, for a 4-star place, it punches above its weight in terms of service and comfort. The breakfast spread was surprisingly good – local specialties alongside the usual international options, and everything tasted fresh. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the price point is reasonable for what you get. It’s one of those places where you can tell the owners actually care about their guests’ experience rather than just checking boxes.
