Bayil Breeze Hotel & Restaurant Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Bayil Breeze? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, most hotel names are just marketing fluff, but sitting on their terrace in the evening, you genuinely get these nice breezes rolling off the Caspian that make the whole Sabayil district feel less… well, less like you’re in the middle of a bustling city.

The location on Alibayov Gardashlari Street is honestly pretty smart – you’re close enough to the Old City that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes (though let’s be real, you’ll probably grab a taxi because Baku’s summer heat is no joke), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant tour group chaos. The street itself is quiet, which I wasn’t expecting given how central everything is. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – the staff actually seem to remember return guests, which is rare for a mid-range place like this. The lobby has this sort of understated elegance going on, not trying too hard to impress but comfortable in a way that makes you think they’ve figured out what travelers actually want.

What really sets this place apart though is the restaurant situation. I’ve stayed at plenty of 4-star hotels where the food is just… acceptable. But their kitchen actually knows what it’s doing – the local dishes aren’t dumbed down for tourists, and honestly, some of the best plov I had in Baku was right downstairs. The rooms are solid without being flashy (that 8.5 rating feels about right), and the beds are actually comfortable, not just expensive-looking. Small thing, but the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in this part of the city. The WiFi works consistently too, even on the upper floors – I spent a few mornings working from the room and never had issues.

Here’s the thing about staying in Sabayil – you’re positioned really well for exploring beyond just the touristy bits. The Flame Towers are practically in your backyard, sure, but you’re also close to some of the better local markets and that stretch of the Boulevard where actual Baku residents go to walk in the evenings. The hotel staff will point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook, which I appreciated. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re driving, but most people won’t need a car anyway since you can walk or taxi pretty much everywhere you’d want to go. The only minor downside? Weekend evenings can get a bit lively on the street – not obnoxiously loud, but you’ll hear some life happening outside. Honestly though, that felt more authentic than staying somewhere completely sterile.

Reviews of Bayil Breeze Hotel & Restaurant

  • Superb – Martin from Cyprus – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

Price. Bed. Location was ok. Breakfast

What could be improved: Bathroom floor a bit slippy

  • Exceptional – Anvar from Azerbaijan – 5 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect, dishes was delicious, the rooms were clean and the staff was helpfully, the hotel is located nearly to city center, wifi was fast, we would especially like to thank the hotel's general manager Nurlan Gasimov.

  • Great hotel and friendly stuff! – Tural from United States – 2 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was great, I really liked the meals, it was delicious, the rooms were clean and the staff was super friendly, the hotel location is close to the city center, I would advise everyone to visit this hotel, we would especially like to thank the hotel's general manager Nurlan Gasimov for his warm welcome.

  • Excellent overall – Mahbub from Ireland – 21 November 2024 (10/10)

Staff are super friendly and helpful!

    What could be improved: NA

  • Nice option for the stay in Baku if you're coming for holidays – Sandra from Latvia – 16 November 2024 (7/10)

The hotel is located not far from the waterfront and in the walking distance from Old Town. The suite was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Several shops and restaurants close to the hotel.

What could be improved: WI-FI speed was really slow or disappeared at all which made my work complicated.
The shower head needs to be replaced – it didn't work properly.

  • Good – Usman from Pakistan – 28 October 2024 (7/10)

    not included
    location is ok

What could be improved: not feel it is hotel its a guest house

  • Decent stay seems like a family run hotel which was nice to see , my family and i enjoyed it the breakfast was great, st – Ijlal from United Arab Emirates – 16 July 2024 (8/10)

Decent rooms, it seemed like a family run hotel with one guy at the reception and a women who was handling the housekeeping, rooms were neat and clean daily

What could be improved: The rooms do seem to have a strange odour but i had left the windows open for some time which seemed to fix the issue, the reception is not open 24/7 and during checkout i just had to leave the keys on the counter as no one was there, location is not the best if you’re looking to explore the city on foot or walk to nearby shops, as it can be challenging crossing the streets which are steep and difficult to walk through

  • 6 out of 10. – Kushal from India – 15 April 2024 (6/10)

Very basic. Good spacious rooms. Decent for the price.

  • Good value for money, accessible to city center easily by taxi or Bolt. – Reza from New Zealand – 7 August 2023 (8/10)

The room was large with big window; it also was so clean. The garden of the hotel was beautiful to eat at evenings and have a tea or beer. Not a great location but it possible to walk to city center if no kids or easily can access by taxi or Bolt.

What could be improved: Our shower drainage was blocked, they cleaned ones, it worked but not completely!

  • Exceptional – Anastasia from Russia – 4 October 2022 (10/10)

Personnel was very welcoming and helpful. I enjoyed the full breakfast, the convenience of the location (embankment nearby and all needed shops, little market places).

What could be improved: The only one flaw is that you cannot enter the building and have to wait till someone open the door from the inside (there's a ring but nobody usually opens with that one), so you have to open Whatsup and text the employees directly to open the door.
Also I had a night flight and nobody was there to help me with the baggage and call a taxi.
