It’s tucked away on Tərlan Əliyarbəyov street in Sabayil, which honestly feels like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than some sterile hotel district. You know what I mean? You’ll hear the morning call to prayer drifting from nearby mosques, smell fresh bread from the local bakeries, and actually see how people live in Baku – not just the tourist version of it.

The apartment itself feels more like crashing at a well-off friend’s place than staying in typical hotel accommodation. I mean, you’ve got a proper kitchen (which saved me a fortune since eating out in central Baku adds up fast), and the living spaces are arranged in a way that actually makes sense. The bedrooms are genuinely quiet too – something I wasn’t expecting given how lively Azerbaijani neighborhoods can get, especially during evening tea time when families gather on their balconies. What really got me was the attention to small details… good water pressure in the shower, reliable WiFi that doesn’t cut out during video calls, and – this might sound silly – but proper hangers in the closets. You’d be amazed how many places cheap out on the basics.

Being in Sabayil puts you right in the sweet spot distance-wise. You’re close enough to walk to the Old City (Icherisheher) when you want that UNESCO World Heritage experience, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds every morning. The Flame Towers look incredible from this area, especially at night when they’re doing their LED light show – honestly, the view from some of the windows here rivals what you’d pay premium rates for at the fancy international chains. Plus, you’re actually near where locals shop and eat, which means better prices and more authentic food. There’s this little tea house about two blocks away that serves the most incredible plov – the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed in the touristy Fountain Square area. Getting around is pretty straightforward too; taxis are cheap and the metro isn’t far if you want to venture further out. Just heads up though – like most of Baku, the streets can get pretty bustling during rush hour, but that’s part of the charm, really. It’s a working city, not just a postcard.
