Wyndham Baku Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked into the Wyndham Baku on Alasger Gayibov street, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s tucked away in this relatively quiet part of the city, and from the outside it’s sort of… well, it looks like a standard business hotel. But you know what? Sometimes those are exactly the places that surprise you. The lobby actually has this really nice marble thing going on, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful – not just going through the motions like you get at some five-star places. They knew I was American before I even opened my mouth (probably the sneakers), and the front desk guy actually gave me some solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen.
Here’s the thing about this hotel’s location that most people don’t realize – you’re actually in a perfect spot to explore both old and new Baku without dealing with the crazy traffic around Fountain Square. The Flame Towers are visible from some of the higher floors, which is pretty cool at night when they’re all lit up, and honestly, being slightly removed from the main tourist chaos means you can actually get some sleep. The rooms are… well, they’re Wyndham rooms, so nothing revolutionary, but the beds are comfortable and the AC works properly (crucial in summer, trust me). I stayed on the seventh floor and barely heard any street noise, though you might catch some construction sounds during the day – seems like half of Baku is being rebuilt right now. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and they actually provide decent toiletries, not those tiny bottles that last about two showers.
What really won me over, though, was the breakfast situation. I mean, it’s not going to change your life or anything, but they do this interesting mix of international stuff and local Azerbaijani dishes that actually taste like someone’s grandmother made them. The börek was legit good, and they had proper tea service – not just tea bags thrown in a basket. The restaurant staff seemed to know the regular business travelers by name, which tells you something about the service level. And here’s a random but useful detail: the elevators are actually fast, which sounds stupid until you’re staying on the eighth floor and running late for a meeting. The WiFi works throughout the building too, even in the lobby corners where these things usually die. Is it the fanciest place in Baku? No. But for the price point and the actual experience of staying there, it delivers on what it promises without any weird surprises. Plus, there’s a decent taxi stand right outside, and the drivers there seem to know their way around better than the random street pickups.

What could be improved: The furniture was quite old specially carpetNot bad overall but service should be better. – Divyangna from India – 30 June 2024 (7/10)
The hotel was overall nice equipped with a gym, sauna, etc.
What could be improved: The hotel was overall nice but the service can do better- your standard checkin time was 2 pm, however we were not allotted our rooms until 4 pm. We are Wyndham members, even so there were no benefits of being so. Except a fruit basket sent to our rooms after we asked the staff for benefits. Funnily the reception staff told us one night that there's no drinking water and that can be made available only in the morning.Good – Arpitv from United Arab Emirates – 17 April 2024 (7/10)
