Promenade Hotel Baku Overview
So I’ve walked past the Promenade Hotel probably fifty times over the years – it’s right there on Neftçilər, you know, that stretch where the city starts feeling more European than Soviet. But honestly, I never thought much about staying there until a friend convinced me it was actually worth the splurge. And you know what? She was absolutely right.
The thing about this place is that it gets the location thing perfectly without being obnoxious about it. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Flame Towers (which, let’s be honest, you’ll get tired of photographing after day two), but more importantly, you’re close enough to the Old City that you can stumble back after dinner without dealing with Baku’s… let’s call it “creative” taxi situation. The staff at check-in seemed genuinely happy to see me, which was refreshing – none of that forced five-star smile stuff. They actually knew things about the neighborhood, like which entrance to Icherisheher is less crowded in the mornings and where to get proper tea that won’t cost you half your travel budget.
What really got me though was how the hotel feels lived-in rather than sterile. The rooms have this warm, almost residential vibe – good lighting (finally, a hotel that understands you might want to actually see things), and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just expensive-looking. The bathroom situation is solid too, with water pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. I stayed on the seventh floor and could hear a bit of street noise, but honestly, it’s the good kind – just enough city hum to remind you where you are without keeping you awake. The breakfast spread is decent, though I’d skip it on weekends when it gets packed with local families (nothing wrong with that, just… loud). Room service was surprisingly quick, and they didn’t mess up my order, which has become my ridiculously low bar for hotel competence these days. The whole place just feels like they’re trying to be genuinely good at hospitality rather than just checking boxes for their star rating, if that makes sense.

What could be improved: All are goodGREAT LOCATION , VERY FRIENDLY PERSONEL , BREAKFAST COULD BE BETTER – Dr from Turkey – 31 May 2025 (8/10)
The personel was very friendly . Location was great .
What could be improved: The breakfast could be better .Nice hotel, but the staff is problematic – Radoslava from Bulgaria – 31 May 2025 (8/10)
We were pleased with the hotel until our checkout. Once, the cleaning lady forgot to throw away the garbage and to leave a feet towel. The breakfast was average, and the bed was too hard for my taste. Otherwise, the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean, and we loved the location of the hotel.
What could be improved: In the evening before our checkout, we asked for a private transfer to the airport and breakfast box due to our very early departure, and the receptionist said everything was organized. Coming to the reception at 3.50 a.m., as scheduled, we noticed that nobody had organized the transfer, which was already paid and costing double than a normal taxi. After a 20-minute wait, an old, small, and smelly taxi came, just to wait more for the driver and the receptionist to talk, I guess about the price and how they will pay him. No one offered any apology or explanation, and we never received the breakfast box. That was definitely not a 5-star service, and it caused us unnecessary stress before our flight.Definitely coming back!! – Andrew from United Arab Emirates – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
The location is perfect for access to the Old Town and boulevard.
What could be improved: A minor inconvenience – We had issues with the room access card – reception dealt with it immediatelySuperb – Bassem from Lebanon – 8 May 2025 (9/10)
