The apartment itself feels more like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel – there’s this attention to detail that you don’t usually see. I’m talking about things like the coffee setup (proper espresso machine, not some sad instant stuff), blackout curtains that actually work, and a shower with water pressure that’ll wake you up in the morning. The kitchen’s fully kitted out too, which came in handy since there’s this amazing little produce market just a few blocks down on Torgovaya Street where you can grab fresh herbs and those incredible Azerbaijani tomatoes.
What really gets me about this place is the location intelligence – whoever chose this spot knew what they were doing. You’re a five-minute walk from the Old City walls, but you’re also close enough to the modern shopping areas that you don’t feel stuck in tourist-land. There’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM and fills the whole street with the smell of fresh bread – I mean, that’s the kind of detail that makes a stay memorable. The Caspian Sea promenade is maybe a ten-minute stroll, perfect for those evening walks when the wind picks up off the water.
