The Ritz-Carlton, Baku Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of fancy places, but walking into The Ritz-Carlton Baku honestly made me do a double-take. It’s right there on Babek Avenue in Nasimi – and if you know Baku at all, you’ll appreciate that this puts you in the heart of everything without the chaos of the Old City crowds. The lobby hits you with this mix of contemporary elegance and subtle Azerbaijani touches that actually works (I’ve seen hotels try this and fail spectacularly). What really got me though was stepping onto my balcony and realizing I had this incredible view of the Caspian Sea stretching out forever – something you don’t really expect until you’re there.
The rooms are spacious in a way that feels genuine, not just claimed in the marketing materials. I mean, you can actually open your suitcase without playing furniture Tetris, which is rarer than it should be in five-star properties. The marble bathrooms are pretty stunning – deep soaking tubs that you’ll actually want to use, and rainfall showers with water pressure that doesn’t disappoint. What I loved most was how quiet everything stayed, even during what locals told me was peak business season. The soundproofing is serious business here. And honestly, the staff seems to know Baku inside and out – they pointed me toward this incredible restaurant in Fountain Square that I never would’ve found otherwise, plus gave me the real scoop on avoiding traffic when heading to Heydar Aliyev Center.
Here’s the thing about this place that sets it apart – it feels authentically Baku rather than like some international hotel that could be anywhere. The service has this warmth that doesn’t feel scripted, and they genuinely seem to care about showing off their city. Check-in was smooth (they actually had my room ready early, which saved my jet-lagged self), and the concierge team knows their stuff about everything from Flame Towers viewing spots to where to find the best plov in the city. Parking is handled beautifully if you’re driving, and the location means you’re walking distance to tons of great spots along the Boulevard. The 9.5 rating it gets makes total sense once you’re there – it’s that rare combination of luxury that doesn’t feel stuffy and local character that doesn’t feel forced. If you’re doing Baku properly, this is definitely where you want to base yourself.

Excellent service, especially at breakfast. Thanks Sadig. Great food quality and many options.
Clean, good wifi, spacious room.
What could be improved: Location is a bit hard to reach during rush hour (like most places in Baku. Traffic is horrendous), but its possible to do a little walk towards the boulevard or downtown if you don't mind.Amazing experience – Waleed from Saudi Arabia – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
