Qiz Galasi Hotel Baku Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Qiz Galasi? The name literally means “Maiden’s Tower” in Azerbaijani, and honestly, they picked it for good reason – this place has this sort of elegant, fortress-like presence that feels both protective and welcoming at the same time. It’s tucked away on Mirze Mansur Street in Sabayil, which is one of those areas where you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually get some sleep at night.
I mean, a 9.6 rating sounds almost too good to be true for a 4-star place, but after spending time there… well, it makes sense. The staff – and I’m talking about everyone from the front desk to housekeeping – they just get it. They understand that travelers want local recommendations that aren’t from a generic guidebook. The guy at reception told me about this little tea house three blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite discoveries in Baku. The rooms themselves have this interesting blend of traditional Azerbaijani touches (think rich carpets and warm wood) mixed with modern amenities that actually work – you know how hotel WiFi usually makes you want to throw your laptop out the window? Not here. The beds are proper comfortable too, not that firm-as-concrete situation you sometimes get in this part of the world.
What really sold me on the place, though, was how it sits in the neighborhood. Sabayil isn’t flashy – it’s where actual Baku residents live and work – so you get this authentic feel without sacrificing convenience. You can walk to the Old City in about fifteen minutes if you’re in the mood for tourist mode, but you’re also surrounded by genuine local life. There’s a small market two streets over where vendors still argue about prices in rapid-fire Azerbaijani, and the smell of fresh bread from the bakery across the street drifts into your room if you keep the windows open. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator’s a bit slow – not broken, just… contemplative, I guess. But honestly, the stairs aren’t terrible, and it gives you a chance to admire some of the traditional artwork they’ve got hanging in the hallways. If you’re coming during Novruz season (that’s their New Year in March), book way ahead because this place fills up with people who know a good thing when they see it.

Great for a short stay; amazing location – Polina from Georgia – 4 July 2025 (10/10)
Great location. Quiet place but very close to everything – sights, restaurants, and public transportation. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Clean room, comfortable firm mattress. A bit small bed (double size) — we were sure that it would be “king” as the room’s name was “King”; but overall it was fine. Well equipped room and bathroom. Nice decor.
What could be improved: Breakfast is not on the premises. Need to take a 5-min walk to the dedicated restaurant. But the restaurant has amazing views.Very Good – Mohd from Qatar – 4 July 2025 (10/10)
It was a very nice hotel. The staff was very helpful
Old hotel but fully maintained and with all the room amenities available.
Fancy rooms and budget friendly.
In the heart of old town Baku with everything on walking distance.
What could be improved: No direct access for taxi and difficult to find it through google maps.
However, staff was very supportive and helped to carry our luggage to the hotel.
Overall it was very good
