Okay, so I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address for Premium Khatai Residence Boulevard, I was a bit confused by the whole “17th floor, access next to the Khojali monument” thing. But actually, once you’re there, it makes perfect sense and you’ll be glad for the landmark reference because finding apartment-style hotels in Baku can be tricky sometimes. The building is right on Xocalı prospekti, which is honestly one of the better streets to stay on if you want to feel like you’re in the real Baku rather than some touristy bubble.

What really struck me about this place is how it manages to feel both residential and hotel-like at the same time – you know what I mean? It’s technically an apartment setup, but they’ve clearly put thought into making it work for travelers. The 17th floor location means you get these sweeping views over the city (Victory Park is right there, obviously), and I mean, you can actually see the Caspian from some angles on clear days. The monument downstairs is kind of sobering but also gives you this immediate sense of place – this isn’t just any generic hotel, you’re really in Azerbaijan. Check-in was surprisingly smooth for what I expected from an apartment-style place, and the staff actually knew enough English to be helpful, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given in Baku outside the super fancy places.

The apartment itself feels genuinely premium without being stuffy about it. Kitchen’s fully equipped (I made coffee there every morning instead of hunting for cafes), decent WiFi throughout, and honestly the bed was way more comfortable than I expected. You’re close enough to walk to Fountain Square if you don’t mind a 15-minute stroll, but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists at 2am – which is actually a pretty sweet spot. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this area, but there are spots if you’re patient. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel during the day with people heading to work and kids walking to school, then it quiets down nicely in the evenings. I’d definitely recommend this if you want something that feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed guest room rather than a cookie-cutter hotel experience, plus you’re getting serious value for what you pay compared to the international chains downtown.
