There’s this little tea house around the corner that the hotel staff recommended (they genuinely seem to know the neighborhood), and honestly, I ended up there almost every morning because their black tea puts the hotel breakfast tea to shame. Speaking of breakfast, it’s solid – nothing fancy, but they do these local pastries that are worth getting up for.
What impressed me most was how quiet the rooms are, considering you’re on a fairly busy street. The windows must be decent quality because the typical Baku traffic noise just… disappears. The rooms themselves are comfortable in that lived-in way – not Instagram perfect, but everything works and the beds are genuinely good. I slept better there than I have in some much pricier places. The AC actually cools the room (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in this part of the world), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no lengthy speeches about amenities, just friendly efficiency and a genuine “let us know if you need anything.” The staff’s English is pretty solid, and more importantly, they seem to actually want to help rather than just going through the motions. One evening I needed directions to a specific market, and the desk clerk drew me a little map with shortcuts that clearly came from someone who actually walks these streets. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to make the most of a short stay.
