The marble isn’t that cheap stuff you see in most four-star places, and the lighting – well, it actually makes you look good in photos, which is more than I can say for half the hotels I’ve stayed in.

What really got me though was the location situation. I mean, you’re right there in Sabayil, which locals will tell you is where you want to be if you’re trying to balance the whole tourist thing with actually experiencing Baku. The Old City’s basically a pleasant walk away – maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not rushing – and you’re close enough to the Flame Towers that you get those killer views without dealing with the chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of everything. The staff there, they genuinely know the area too. Not that rehearsed concierge stuff, but actual insights like which time to hit Icherisheher when the crowds thin out, or where to grab proper plov that isn’t tourist-trap pricing.

Honestly, the rooms themselves are where this place really shines for a four-star setup. The beds are properly comfortable – I’m talking about that sweet spot where it’s firm enough that you don’t sink into oblivion but soft enough that you’re not feeling like you’re sleeping on concrete. And here’s something you don’t always get in Baku hotels: the air conditioning actually works efficiently, which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during those brutal summer months when the Caspian heat really kicks in. The bathrooms have decent water pressure too, which sounds basic but trust me, after a long day walking around the city’s hills, you’ll be grateful. I will say the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some corners of the building – not a dealbreaker, but if you’re planning to work from your room, maybe test it out first. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, though if you’re vegetarian, you might want to scope out some nearby cafés for variety. All in all, for the price point and that 8.7 rating it’s pulling, the Park Dedeman delivers on being a comfortable base for exploring Baku without any of the pretentious attitude you sometimes get at places trying too hard to be fancy.
