Old Street Boutique Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Old Street Boutique Hotel? Walking up to it on Sabir street, I honestly expected another cookie-cutter place trying too hard to be “boutique.” But this spot actually gets it right – there’s something genuinely charming about how they’ve restored this building in the heart of Old City without making it feel like a museum piece.
The location is pretty much perfect if you want to experience Baku properly. You’re literally steps from the ancient city walls, and I mean literally – I could hear the evening call to prayer drifting over from the Juma Mosque just around the corner. The narrow cobblestone streets can get a bit lively (translation: slightly noisy) during summer evenings when locals are out strolling, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’ll fall asleep to the sound of fountain conversations in Azerbaijani floating up from the street below. The Maiden Tower is maybe a three-minute walk, and you can actually see glimpses of the Caspian from some of the upper floor windows – though don’t expect sweeping water views; this is Old City, after all, where buildings are packed tight and every inch of space tells a story.
What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to actually live in Baku, not just work there. The guy at reception (I think his name was Rashad?) didn’t just point me toward tourist spots – he told me which tea house on Kichik Gala street serves the best plov, and warned me that the ATM on the corner sometimes runs out of cash on weekends. The rooms themselves have this nice balance of modern comfort without erasing all the character. The beds are solid, the AC works (crucial during those humid summer months), and the bathrooms are properly updated. Sure, the walls are a bit thin – I could occasionally hear my neighbors, but nothing that a white noise app couldn’t handle. The breakfast spread was actually pretty decent, with local honey and fresh bread, though I’ll be honest, I usually ended up grabbing tea and baklava from the little café down the street because, well, when in Baku, right?
Is it the fanciest place you’ll ever stay? No, and that 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s very good without being perfect. But if you want to wake up in the morning and feel like you’re actually in Azerbaijan rather than some international hotel bubble, this is your spot.

What could be improved: GreatGreat but A/C from outside was really loud… – Denis from Slovenia – 3 October 2024 (9/10)
The location and the staff were amazing. Staff always tried their best to meet our requests. Also breakfast was ok.
What could be improved: The room was spacious and clean but there was always A/C noise coming from outside into our room so the room was always noisy…Great starting point for your day – Julia from Canada – 26 June 2024 (8/10)
Modest, but super nice. Everything you need. Robe and slippers in the room. Very warm welcome from all the stuff. The room was clean and spacious. Elevator for easy access to the upper floors. The breakfast was basic, but quite enough. Beautiful spacious dining room on the top floor, no lineups, breathtaking view on the Baku bay – an excellent way to set the mood for the rest of your day.
After the check out, I left my suitcases by the reception for the day. It felt very comfortable. Came back at the end of the day, changed and repacked. Next to the reception, there is a big bathroom where you can change before the flight.Great facility, staff, rooms. – Jozsef from Hungary – 17 March 2024 (9/10)
Excellent, friendly staff, room and location perfect, central, historic place.
What could be improved: Breakfast was offered a bit late, could be made available from let us say 7:30.Superb – Rainer from Germany – 15 February 2024 (9/10)
Room 304 excellent view on Baku bay, big comfortable room with kitchenette and tea cooker (could put some instant coffe too), daily cleaning, beautiful breakfast room 4 th floor with panoramic view, receptionist Izmail very helpful to order food
What could be improved: Pillows and mattress a bit old, breakfast could extend to 11 amI would not come again. – Franz from Germany – 26 September 2023 (7/10)
The hotel is in a good location in the old town. It looks nice on the first sight.
We had a comfort room with seaview. Well, we could see the sea beyond a lot of roof.
The room is hood and clean.
What could be improved: First and foremost the noise level at night is horrible. We could barely sleep due to machines running during the night. Even if the neighbor is to blame, it doesn’t change anything.
A minor thing is that the bedsheets were not fitting the size of the bed and after a while you are laying on the mattress itself.
The breakfast quality is poor and sub standard.Great – Ahmed from Saudi Arabia – 24 September 2023 (9/10)
I saw it from outside and I was shocked of the location and how small it was but it was great when I stayed in and better that I expected
What could be improved: The balcony was small and there was a problem in the AC when we arrived but it was solved within 30 minutesWould recommend. – Shane from Thailand – 2 September 2023 (9/10)
Right in the middle of old town.
What could be improved: You have to track your suitcases to the hotel as it’s in the middle of old town, and sometimes cars are not allowed to go in there.Very good – Syed from Pakistan – 12 August 2023 (8/10)
The location was very central, room size was quite small but washroom was neat and clean. Overall very good place to stay if you want to live inside the old city and 3mins away from Nizami Street.
Old Street Boutique is a great place to stay. If I visit Baku again, it will be my top priority. – Younus from Pakistan – 8 August 2023 (9/10)
This hotel is inside old city area. It is very close to all sightseeing places of Baku. The room was with balcony, very neat and clean. Breakfast is OK. They serve Continental breakfast. I was expecting more traditional breakfast. Staff was friendly. Most importantly they serve free water bottles as much as you need.
What could be improved: Breakfast. They serve Continental breakfast. I was expecting more traditional breakfast.
