Honestly, when I first pulled up to 4 Yusif Mammadaliyev Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Seaside Apartment – the name’s a bit modest for what you actually get. But here’s the thing about Sabayil district that most people don’t realize: you’re literally in the heart of where Baku locals actually want to live, not just the touristy bits. This fourth-floor apartment (yeah, it’s apartment 27 if you’re looking for it) sits in one of those solid Soviet-era buildings that’s been properly renovated – you know, the kind where the bones are good but someone actually cared enough to make it comfortable.

The space itself surprised me, and I mean that in the best way. Four-star places can sometimes feel sterile, but this feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place who happens to have really good taste. The windows face toward the Caspian – not a full sea view, but you catch glimpses of the water between buildings, especially from the kitchen area where I’d end up having my morning coffee. What really sold me though was how quiet it gets at night. Mammadaliyev Street has some traffic during the day, but it’s not like staying on Nizami where you’re dealing with constant noise. The building’s thick walls actually work in your favor here.

You’re also positioned perfectly for exploring without feeling like you’re trapped in a hotel bubble. Walk five minutes toward the water and you’re at Seaside Boulevard where everyone goes for evening strolls – locals included, which tells you something. The other direction takes you toward the old city, though honestly I found myself just wandering the neighborhood streets more than I expected. There’s this little bakery two blocks over that opens ridiculously early, and a corner market that somehow stocks everything you didn’t know you needed. Parking was easier than I thought it’d be too – there’s usually something available on the side streets, though you might have to walk a block or two during busy periods. The host was actually reachable when I had questions (rare these days), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward key-passing-through-intermediaries thing you sometimes get with apartment rentals. If you’re the type who likes having your own space but still being in the thick of things, this works really well.

  I had a great stay at Central Apartment Midtown (Baku). The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the city. The apartment was comfortable, and the landlord, dear Takhir, was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended
