You know what struck me first about Old Baku Apartment? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there. It sits right on Neftçilər Prospekti – that’s Oil Workers Avenue for those who don’t speak Azerbaijani – and honestly, the whole area has this lived-in authenticity that a lot of the newer places in Baku just can’t replicate. I mean, you’re basically staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, not some touristy bubble. The building itself has that Soviet-era charm (and I use “charm” in the best way possible) – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet despite being on a main avenue, and these wonderfully high ceilings that make the rooms feel more spacious than you’d expect from the outside.

What really gets me about this place is how it perfectly captures that sweet spot between authentic local living and having everything you need as a visitor. The Sabayil district is honestly one of my favorite parts of Baku – you’re close enough to walk to the Old City when you want that UNESCO World Heritage experience, but you’re also surrounded by actual bakeries where locals grab their morning bread, little tea houses that don’t even have English signs, and those wonderful produce vendors who’ll argue passionately about which pomegranates are the ripest. The apartment setup means you get a proper kitchen, which is clutch because Azerbaijani markets are incredible and you’ll want to try cooking with some of those spices and fresh herbs. Plus, there’s something really satisfying about making your morning tea the way locals do it – strong, in those little glass cups, maybe with some local honey.

I have to say, that perfect 10 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen. The owner clearly gets what travelers actually want – fast wifi (essential for uploading all those Flame Towers photos), hot water that doesn’t cut out mid-shower, and beds that don’t leave you wondering if you should have packed a yoga mat instead. The neighborhood gets lively in the evenings, especially on weekends, but it’s the good kind of lively – families out for walks, teenagers playing football in the courtyard, old men setting up backgammon games. You’ll fall asleep to the sounds of a city that’s actually living, not performing for tourists. And practically speaking, you’re positioned perfectly for exploring – the metro isn’t far when you want to venture out, taxis actually know where you are (trust me, this matters more than you think in Baku), and there’s a decent supermarket within walking distance for those inevitable snack runs.

  Это идеальное место для тех, кто хочет сбежать от городской суеты и насладиться покоем. В номере было все, что нам нужно: удобные кровати, красивый декор и отличная звукоизоляция. Отель небольшой, но очень уютный, с атмосферой уединения. Персонал был очень дружелюбный и внимательный, всегда готов помочь с любыми запросами. Завтрак был отличным, с местными продуктами и домашними блюдами. Расположение идеально для изучения окрестностей, при этом здесь царит покой и тишина. Это был отличный опыт, и мы обязательно вернемся!

  This is the perfect place for those looking to escape the hustle and enjoy some peace and quiet. The room had everything we needed: comfortable beds, beautiful decor, and excellent soundproofing. The hotel is small but very cozy, with a feeling of seclusion. The staff was very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent, with fresh local products and home-made options. The location is ideal for exploring the area while still being able to relax in a peaceful environment. It was a great experience, and we will definitely return!

  Фантастическое местоположение. За очень небольшие деньги вы живёте в центре старого города. Расположение, метро и автобус до центра недалеко. «Очень гостеприимные и позитивные. На все вопросы/просьбы реагируют моментально.
  Стараются учесть пожелания гостей.
  Есть все для комфортного проживания.
  Номера соответствуют фото.
  Завтрак сытный и вкусный. В свободном доступе чай, кофе, печеньки.
