What really got me was the attention to detail here. The lobby has this understated elegance – marble that doesn’t feel cold, lighting that’s warm without being dim. Check-in was smooth, which sounds boring but you know how it is when you’ve been traveling all day. The staff actually remembered my name by the second day, and not in that forced hospitality way, more like they genuinely cared about making sure everything was right.

The rooms are spacious by European standards (definitely by Baku standards), and the beds are legitimately comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses and slept better here than I had in weeks. The bathrooms are modern without trying too hard, good water pressure, and they stock decent toiletries. Air conditioning works properly, which matters more than you’d think during summer months when Baku gets pretty warm. What I appreciated most was the quiet – even with windows open at night, the street noise is minimal. You get those soft sounds of the city settling down, but nothing that keeps you awake.

Breakfast deserves a mention because it’s not just the usual continental spread. They do proper Azerbaijani dishes alongside the international stuff – fresh herbs, local cheeses, honey that tastes like it came from somewhere specific rather than a industrial supplier. The tea service is excellent, which tells you something about how they think about details. I spent most mornings there longer than I planned, partly because the dining room gets this beautiful light, partly because the whole atmosphere just makes you want to linger.

Look, I’ve stayed in flashier places with more amenities and higher price tags that left me feeling like I was just passing through. Nemi Palace feels different – it’s got that rare quality where everything works exactly as it should without making a big show of it. The four-star rating is accurate (it’s not trying to be a luxury resort), but the experience feels more thoughtful than places that cost twice as much. If you’re the kind of traveler who values genuine hospitality over Instagram-worthy lobbies, and you want to experience Baku from a neighborhood perspective rather than a purely tourist one, this is exactly where you want to be.
