You know what struck me first about this place? Walking up to 16 Boyuk Qala feels like you’re about to enter someone’s private residence rather than a hotel – which, honestly, is exactly what makes it special. The Luxury Old City Apartment sits right in the heart of Sabayil, and I mean *right* in it, where you can actually hear the call to prayer echoing off the ancient walls if you open your windows in the early morning.

The apartment itself is one of those places that manages to feel both historic and comfortable, which isn’t always easy to pull off in Baku’s Old City. The stone walls are thick enough that you don’t really hear your neighbors (a blessing when you’re trying to recover from exploring the city all day), and the rooms have this sort of lived-in elegance – not museum-perfect, but genuinely welcoming. The 8.4 rating makes sense once you’re actually staying there; it’s not flawless, but the character more than makes up for any minor quirks. I noticed the shower pressure could be a bit temperamental, and the WiFi occasionally drops if you’re in the back bedroom, but honestly, you’re probably not going to spend much time indoors anyway.

What I really loved was how the location puts you within a five-minute walk of both Shirvanshah’s Palace and the Maiden Tower, but you’re tucked away enough on Boyuk Qala that the tourist crowds don’t really spill over onto your doorstep. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals going about their daily business and visitors who’ve figured out that staying inside the old walls beats those massive hotels along the Caspian waterfront. Plus – and this is something you only realize after a day or two – you can walk to some fantastic local restaurants that the cruise ship crowds never find. There’s this little place around the corner that does incredible dolma, and the owner will probably try to practice his English with you if you’re there during the slower afternoon hours. Parking can be tricky if you’ve rented a car (the old city streets weren’t exactly designed for modern traffic), but most people end up walking everywhere anyway or using taxis, which are ridiculously cheap in Baku. The four-star rating feels about right – it’s definitely upscale without being stuffy, and the attention to detail shows in things like the quality of the linens and the way they’ve restored the original architectural features without making everything feel precious or untouchable.

  What could be improved: Состояние квартиры. Всё очень, очень "уставшее". Везде лежат хозяйские вещи, – очень неудобно. Пол на кухне с заметным наклоном. Лейка душа в ванной расположена на высоте 170 см. И если Ваш рост больше, то принять душ не получится.Напор воды слабый.
  А главный минус, что хозяйка после бронирования за пару дней до заселения позвонила , и говорит, что цена поменялась, и выросла почти в два раза, (мол вы лучше в такой локации ничего не найдёте). Будьте готовы к скандалу.

  Очень удобное расположение, рядом с девичьей башней. Квартира чистая, все необходимое есть. Хозяйка квартиры всегда на связи, если появлялись какие то вопросы все решалось очень быстро.

  Отличное расположение в самом центре Старого города! Рядом расположены основные достопримечательности Ичери-Шехер (Старого города): Девичья башня, Дворец Ширваншахов, бани, старинные дома, сувенирные лавки, рестораны, кафе, а также улица, где снимали фильм "Бриллиантовая рука". В непосредственной близости находится Приморский бульвар, Музей ковра, Маленькая Венеция и многое другое. Гостеприимная хозяйка, которая по нашей просьбе организовала трансфер из аэропорта, а также лично встретила нас в Luxury Old City Apartment и ознакомила с условиями проживания. Для нас было удобно и приятно иметь возможность общаться с хозяйкой на русском языке. Здесь есть всё необходимое для путешественника: просторная квартира, хорошая мебель (кровати, диваны, столы, стулья), бытовая техника (холодильник, чайник, газовая плита, стиральная машина, микроволновая печь), телевизор, кондиционер. Хорошая кухонная мебель, имеется необходимая посуда. Хороший санузел. Хороший доступ в Интернет по Wi-Fi. Имеется отопление, в квартире тепло и комфортно. Идеальная чистота!
