Lux Apartment Nizami street Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Baku, and honestly? The Lux Apartment on Nizami street surprised me in the best way. When you first walk up to number 77, it doesn’t scream luxury from the outside – it’s more like this solid, well-maintained building that fits right into the neighborhood vibe. But that’s actually part of what I ended up loving about it.
The thing about staying right on Nizami street is that you’re basically in the thick of everything without feeling like you’re camping out in Times Square, you know? I mean, yes, there’s going to be some street noise – it’s a main thoroughfare after all – but it dies down after 10 PM, and honestly, the energy during the day is pretty infectious. You’ve got the old city walls just a fifteen-minute walk south, and if you head north, you’ll hit some of the newer shopping areas. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood – when I asked about where to grab proper Azerbaijani breakfast (not hotel continental stuff), they sent me to this tiny place two blocks over that I never would have found otherwise.
The apartment itself feels more like someone’s well-appointed home than a sterile hotel room, which can be hit or miss depending on your mood, but I was there for five days and it grew on me fast. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to hit the local markets – and trust me, you do want to hit the markets in Baku. There’s decent water pressure, which sounds boring until you’ve had a long day walking around in 35-degree heat, and the AC works without sounding like a jet engine. Small victories, but they matter. The Wi-fi was solid enough for video calls back home, though I did have to restart the router once (the front desk walked me through it in about two minutes, no drama). What really sealed the deal for me was the little balcony – nothing fancy, but perfect for morning coffee and people-watching. You get this nice slice of daily Baku life: commuters heading to work, vendors setting up, the rhythm of a city that’s been here for centuries but is still figuring out what comes next. That 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s the kind of place where you settle in and think “yeah, I could live here for a while.”

Reviews of Lux Apartment Nizami street
Very good – Ali from Saudi Arabia – 20 July 2025 (8/10)
A new place but clearly being run on a shoe string budget. Location is superb! – Ambareen from Pakistan – 13 June 2025 (6/10)
The location was EXCELLENT but the bed / mattress was terrible. We loved the balcony and spent every evening there just loving the view and the vibe but the furniture could have been better and the a/c leaking was a issue. Mohammed was very communicative and met us and helped us check in. He was also responsive and helpful for the first 24 hours. The entrance is shocking but the location is great. Also a safe place with a grocery store around the corner and ofcourse instant and complete access to Nizami Street 24×7.
What could be improved: The accomodation was advertised as a 2 bedroom but it was a 2 room apartment with 1 bedroom. Mohammad who manages the place was apologetic but could'nt explain how they had let this be. The bed / mattress was terrible. The first night besides the spring digging into our backs the sheets were too small so kept bunching up all night. They were changed the next morning but was all a bit of a mismatch. We found another duvet cover which we used as a mattress topper but the double cover had a single comforter in it so very unsatisfactory. The airconditioning made clunking sounds all night, the kitchen is equipped with a mismatch of crockery but is just about adequate. 24 hours after we checked in Muhammad went on a break , there was no back up so no one to empty waste baskets or check the ac. Loved the location but didnt get even one night of good sleep. Left over open foods in cupboards was useful if one needed but made a mess as was in open packets. No microwave but a big fridge and kettle etc available but no mugs or cups for tea /coffee (or maybe I didnt see them)Superb – Ionutmicu from Romania – 30 March 2025 (9/10)
