La Casa Sahil Overview

You know what caught me off guard about La Casa Sahil? Walking up to this place on Üzeyir Hacıbəyov street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside – but step inside and it’s got this surprisingly polished vibe that actually lives up to its 4-star rating. The location is pretty solid too, sitting right in Sabayil district where you’re close enough to the old city that you can walk there without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you’re not dealing with crowds right outside your window.

The rooms are what you’d expect for a decent mid-range spot – clean, comfortable beds that don’t leave you with a sore back, and the AC actually works (which, trust me, matters a lot during Baku’s summers). I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but everything feels well-maintained and thoughtfully put together. The staff really knows their stuff about the city too – they pointed me toward this fantastic little tea house about three blocks away that I never would’ve found on my own. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or surprises, and they speak solid English if your Azerbaijani is rusty like mine.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in a pretty central part of the city. The double-glazed windows do their job, and honestly, after spending long days exploring the Flame Towers and wandering through Icherisheher, you’ll appreciate getting proper sleep. The breakfast spread is decent – nothing fancy but they do this really good local honey that pairs perfectly with their fresh bread, and the coffee is strong enough to get you moving for another day of sightseeing. With a 7.9 rating, La Casa Sahil sits in that sweet spot where you’re getting solid value without paying premium prices – it’s the kind of place that works whether you’re here for business or just exploring Azerbaijan’s capital. Plus, there’s actually parking nearby (not a given in this part of town), and you’re walking distance from both the Caspian Sea waterfront and the main shopping areas.

Reviews of La Casa Sahil

  • Very good – Alina from Spain – 8 December 2024 (8/10)

We stayed at La Casa Sahil with my sister, and while it had its advantages, there were also some notable downsides. The hotel is conveniently located right in the city center, which was a major plus. Although the building and interior are not new and the renovation is somewhat dated, everything was clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was included, and it was quite tasty, prepared in a homemade style, which added a nice touch.

However, there were significant issues with the service. Communication with some of the staff members was challenging, and it felt like they weren’t very accommodating. For example, we arrived at 6 AM, and although we had previously requested early check-in on Booking and it was confirmed, we were not allowed to check in until the official time at 2 PM—even though there were clean and available rooms. This left us waiting for hours unnecessarily.

Additionally, when we asked for a late check-out, they refused unless we paid extra, even though the hotel had no apparent need for the room immediately after. This approach didn’t feel guest-oriented. Having been in a similar business for over 10 years, I believe that being more flexible with guests—especially when there’s no direct inconvenience to the hotel—makes for much better service.

Overall, while the hotel itself was fine and well-located, the service could use significant improvement to create a more welcoming experience for guests.

  • Overall, my stay was decent, with clean rooms and friendly staff, but noise issues, overpriced transfers, and a scam att – Aswathy from India – 16 November 2024 (8/10)

I had a decent experience at this hotel during my stay in Baku. The room was well-maintained, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment after a day of exploring the city. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any questions or requests. The breakfast was decent, with a good selection of options to start the day off right.

What could be improved: While my stay at the hotel in Baku was largely positive, there were a few things that left me disappointed. The hotel offered a free airport pick-up, which was appreciated, but after staying for 9 nights, I was surprised to find that they did not offer a complimentary drop-off. In fact, the price they quoted for the airport transfer was more than twice the usual rate, which felt quite unfair.

The standard room I was initially given didn’t have a window or balcony, which made the space feel a bit claustrophobic. Even when I did manage to get an upgrade on the last day, the room with a window had its own issues. There was a lot of noise from nearby bathrooms, and the constant honking from traffic on the road outside was very disturbing. It was tough to get a peaceful rest with all that noise.

Additionally, one of the taxi drivers from the hotel tried to scam me by claiming that there was no good Wi-Fi or internet in the city and insisted that I buy a local SIM card. This felt very unprofessional and dishonest, and it left a negative impression on my experience. Hotel Wi-Fi and international roaming were more than sufficient. Be cautious and don’t fall for these types of scams.

  • Value for money! – Mony from Austria – 23 July 2023 (9/10)

Very well located, close to metro station and Baku promenade. Staff (Ms. Sabina and Mr. Najat) were incredibly helpful and professional. Breakfast is homely, healthy and served with a smile. No issues with payment, airport transfer and city guidance so overall a good budget option!

What could be improved: The hotel doesn't have an elevator, so that can be a point of concern if you are travelling with the elderly, really small children and lots of luggage. I travelled light so this was not an issue for me.
