So I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Baku a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets it right. The moment you walk into the lobby on Keykab Khanim Safaraliyeva Street, you can tell they’ve put thought into the details – there’s this subtle blend of modern comfort and local touches that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. The staff actually remembers you if you’ve been there before, which is rare these days, and check-in is usually pretty smooth unless you hit one of those oil conference weeks when half of Houston seems to descend on Baku.

What I really appreciate about this place is how it sits in Nasimi district – you’re close enough to walk to some great local spots (the tea houses along the nearby streets are fantastic), but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the old city tourist crowds. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable, the AC works properly (crucial during those sweltering Baku summers), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s clean and functional. The windows are well-sealed too, so you don’t get much street noise, though you might catch the occasional call to prayer from nearby mosques – honestly, I find it kind of peaceful.

The restaurant downstairs serves a mix of international and Azerbaijani dishes, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, the plov is surprisingly good and they do a decent job with the continental breakfast. You know what’s nice though? They have local honey at breakfast, not that generic hotel stuff. The business center is reliable if you need to print boarding passes or deal with work stuff, and the WiFi actually reaches the rooms properly – I’ve worked from there without issues. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy periods, but the valet guys know the neighborhood and will find you a spot. The whole operation feels well-managed, which shows in little things like elevators that actually come when you press the button and housekeeping that doesn’t wake you up at 7 AM. For the price point in Baku, especially with that 8.5 rating reflecting real guest experiences, it hits that sweet spot of being reliable without breaking the bank – perfect if you want a comfortable base to explore the city without all the pretense of the luxury chains.

  1. Nice location. Near Crescent Mall, shopping and food. Many local cafes and restaurants are in the vicinity of the hotel.
  2. Godly breakfast. Meat, eggs, vegetables, dairy, cheese, croissants and even chia seeds.
  3. Sightseeing. It is located near the sea. You just walk 5 mins there. The Victory park is also not very far.
  4. Shower and bathroom are clean.
  5. Decent gym and great sauna for free.
  6. Friendly and helpful staff.
  
  What could be improved: 1. SIM card for foreigners is ridiculously expensive. Use e-sim instead.
  2. They offer you to use taxi cabs near the hotel entrance. They are expensive. Nobody tells you to use Bolt or Yango applications for taxi service.

  The staff was so friendly- the room was clean – the location was wonderful near malls and the sea !!
  
  What could be improved: The refrigerator was so small – the restaurant above my room so much noise from moving chairs and tables – the gym has poor view and should be in high floor like other hotels !!
