Gates of Baku Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Gates of Baku? The moment you walk in, it doesn’t feel like just another city hotel – there’s this genuine warmth that’s hard to fake. I mean, sure, it’s right on Azerbaijan Prospekti, which sounds intimidating if you don’t know Baku, but honestly it’s perfect positioning. You’re basically in Sabayil, which locals will tell you is where you actually want to be – close enough to the Old City that you can walk there in fifteen minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually get some sleep.
The staff here actually remembers your name after day one, which is rare anywhere these days. And I’m talking real recognition, not that practiced hotel smile thing. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds that don’t creak when you move, and the AC works properly (crucial in Baku summers, trust me). What I really appreciated though were the little touches that show someone’s paying attention: fresh towels that actually smell fresh, not like industrial detergent, and blackout curtains that really work. The neighborhood can get a bit lively on weekends – you’ll hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper – but it’s the good kind of energy, not drunk tourists stumbling around.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: the location knowledge. When I asked about getting to the Flame Towers without dealing with crazy taxi drivers, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a tour bus – he sketched out a little walking route that took me through some gorgeous side streets I never would have found otherwise. That’s local insight you can’t buy. The breakfast situation is solid too, though don’t expect some massive international buffet – it’s more like really good local stuff with enough familiar options that picky eaters won’t panic. And honestly? After a few days of exploring Baku’s incredible food scene, you’ll appreciate having somewhere reliable to start your morning. The 9.7 rating makes sense when you add it all up – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it absolutely nails what most travelers actually need. Good location without the tourist trap pricing, genuinely helpful staff, and rooms that let you recharge properly for the next day of wandering around this fascinating city.

Reviews of Gates of Baku
Great uneventful stay in Baku – Apurva from India – 25 March 2025 (10/10)
Elchin the host is a first order gentleman. The apartment is small but very comfortable. Every minute detail has been taken care off. Excellent location for Baku with a good view from balcony.
What could be improved: The approach is a bit iffy but then how some buildings are. On 3rd floor without elevator. Embarrassing that Elchin helped with our luggage both while check-in and check-out.Exceptional – Ying from China – 23 January 2025 (10/10)
highly recommend.the location is great.host is helpful and nice
excelente estadia em Baku – Inez from Brazil – 25 November 2024 (10/10)
You cannot expect a better location in Baku. The host is very nice and answers fast. The apartment has all appliances you may need and there is even a small market in the building.
Exceptional – Anand from India – 22 November 2024 (10/10)
The host picked us up. The property is centrally located in town, very close to the old city where most of the action happens. It is also near the main street, bus stop, and market.
What could be improved: The property is on the third floor and does not have an elevator. Additionally, the entrance and staircase feel unwelcoming. However, once you enter the apartment, it transforms into a warm, welcoming, and comfortable space.Exceptional – Sumit from India – 15 October 2024 (10/10)
The appartment has a beautiful vibe to it …embodied with all the modern facilities…even the minutest of the details have been taken into consideration….and above all "Mr.Elchin" ,he is simply a gem of a person…a helping hand …thank you sir for making our stay in baku…pretty comfortable and memorable…
What could be improved: Nothing as such…everything about the appartment jus seemed perfect to me..the only downside is that it does not have an escalator…rest everything is just perfect and beautiful..An apartment to be remembered – Tarik from India – 13 October 2024 (10/10)
