But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this clean, modern feel that doesn’t try too hard, and the lobby hits that sweet spot between upscale and welcoming. The staff at check-in were genuinely friendly (not that forced hospitality you get sometimes), and I mean, they actually seemed to care about making sure I knew my way around the neighborhood.

Here’s the thing about this location – it’s perfectly positioned if you want to experience Baku without being stuck in the touristy bubble. You’re close enough to walk to the Old City when you want that historic atmosphere, but you’re also right where locals actually live and work. I loved stepping out in the morning and grabbing coffee from the little places nearby, watching the city wake up. The Caspian Sea views from the upper floors are legitimately stunning, especially around sunset when the whole waterfront lights up. And parking? Not a nightmare like in some parts of the city – there’s actually space, which any traveler who’s rented a car in Baku will appreciate.

The rooms themselves feel thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter. Mine had these big windows that let in tons of natural light, and the bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in during months of travel. Little touches like the locally-sourced toiletries and the way they’d arranged fresh flowers made it feel like someone actually cared about the details. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout the building (I’m talking reliable video calls, not just basic browsing), which is huge when you’re trying to stay connected. What really won me over though was how quiet it stayed at night – even being on a main street, the soundproofing kept things peaceful. The breakfast spread was substantial without being overwhelming, with both international options and some Azerbaijani specialties that gave me a proper taste of local flavors. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because, well, why mess with a good thing when you find it?
