The street itself is quiet – I stayed there during a busy weekend and barely heard traffic noise, which is saying something for this city. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually live in Baku, not just work there. They gave me directions to a proper neighborhood bakery instead of pointing me toward some overpriced hotel breakfast, and honestly, that little gesture told me everything I needed to know about the place.

The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a well-run 3-star, but with these nice touches that someone clearly thought about. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in this price range), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure – which, if you’ve traveled around the Caucasus region, you’ll know isn’t guaranteed. I particularly liked that the windows opened properly; so many newer hotels seal you in with climate control, but sometimes you just want that Caspian Sea breeze, even if it comes with a bit of city dust. The Wi-Fi worked consistently too, which mattered since I was trying to coordinate some day trips to Gobustan and didn’t want to hunt around the lobby for signal.

What really bumped this place up in my mind was the breakfast situation – they do this spread that’s half European, half local Azerbaijani stuff, and it’s clear they’re sourcing ingredients locally rather than just opening industrial packages. The tea service alone (proper black tea, served the way locals drink it) showed they weren’t just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, no weird deposit demands or passport drama, and they had printed maps with actual helpful annotations, not just the standard tourist traps circled.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or end up in some design magazine, but Baku White City does exactly what a good mid-range hotel should do – it gets out of your way and lets you focus on exploring this fascinating city. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me; it’s the kind of place where everything works, the staff cares, and you wake up feeling rested rather than wondering what corners they cut. If you’re planning to spend your days wandering Baku’s crazy architecture and your evenings trying different restaurants, this is a perfectly solid home base that won’t drain your travel budget.

  Отличное месторасположение, внизу супермаркет, рядом метро и остановки общественного транспорта. Радушные хозяева, организовали 3 тура по Азербайджану по умеренной цене, сопровождали на всем времени проживания. Баку-прекрасный город, если планируете пляжный отдых, то это не то направление, здесь посмотреть, погулять, покушать.
  
  What could be improved: Каспийское море не для пляжного отдыха. По жилью – немного странная планировка, одно окно на три спальных комнаты, соответственно, в одной комнате светло, в остальных – темнота, жутко скрипят кровати, но, тут вопросы не к хозяевам, а к гостям).
