You know what caught me off guard about this place? The views are actually legitimate – I mean, when you see “Convention Center View” in the name, you’re probably thinking industrial and boring, but honestly, Baku’s convention center area has this surprisingly modern skyline thing going on. I stayed here for four nights last spring, and every morning I’d grab my coffee and just stand at the window watching the city wake up. The apartment sits right on Hasanoglu street, which – if you’ve never been to Baku – is one of those perfectly positioned spots where you feel like you’re in the heart of things without dealing with Old City tourist chaos.

The space itself feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a typical hotel room. The kitchen actually works (I made breakfast twice, which I never do when traveling), and there’s this lived-in comfort that a lot of four-star places try to fake but never quite nail. What really sold me was the internet – blazingly fast, which matters when you’re trying to video call home or upload photos without wanting to throw your laptop out the window. The building’s pretty quiet too, even though you’re basically in the business district. I was worried about street noise, but Hasanoglu doesn’t get the heavy traffic that some of the main arteries do. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward hovering while they explain seventeen different amenities you’ll never use.

Here’s the thing about the location that the photos don’t really capture: you’re a fifteen-minute walk from some genuinely great restaurants that haven’t been completely discovered by the guidebook crowd yet. There’s this little place two blocks down that does incredible plov – I stumbled across it on my second night and ended up going back twice. And if you need groceries or just want to people-watch, there’s a decent market area within easy walking distance. The 8-rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Baku, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere for more than just sleeping. I’d definitely book it again, especially if I was in town for business – the whole setup just works without any of those little daily annoyances that can make or break a trip.
