You know what surprised me about Baku Central Apartment? It’s not actually in some touristy high-rise – it’s tucked into this residential building on Mirzə Şəfi Vazeh street that feels authentically Baku. I mean, you’re literally living among locals here, which honestly beats those sterile hotel corridors any day. The apartment itself is spacious in that way that makes you wonder why hotel rooms are always so cramped, and everything feels thoughtfully put together without trying too hard. The kitchen actually has proper equipment (not those sad hotel mini-fridges), and the Wi-Fi – well, let’s just say I got more work done here than I planned to.

What really sold me on this place was the location, though most people probably don’t realize how perfect it is until they’re walking around. You’re in Sabayil, which means you can stroll to the Old City walls in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough from the tourist chaos to actually sleep at night. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling – there’s a little bakery around the corner where the smell of fresh bread drifts up in the mornings, and you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyard sometimes, which sounds annoying but is actually kind of charming. Plus, getting to the Flame Towers area is dead simple from here, and if you need the metro, well, it’s not like Baku’s metro system is hard to figure out anyway.

Here’s the thing that really impressed me – the host clearly knows what travelers actually need. Check-in was smooth (none of that awkward waiting around in lobbies), and they left these little touches that showed they’d thought things through. The shower pressure is excellent, which anyone who’s traveled in this region will appreciate, and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. The 9.8 rating isn’t one of those inflated numbers you see everywhere – people genuinely seem happy here, probably because it feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than dealing with hotel bureaucracy. If you’re the type who likes having your own space to spread out and maybe cook a proper meal after days of restaurant food, this hits differently than your standard accommodation. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge desk – but honestly, in a city like Baku where half the fun is wandering around and discovering things yourself, that’s hardly a loss.
