Austin Hotel Baku Overview
So I ended up at the Austin Hotel Baku after wandering down Nizami Street for what felt like hours – and honestly, I’m glad I stumbled onto this place. It sits right in the heart of Sabayil, which means you’re basically in the thick of everything without the chaos that comes with some of the bigger tourist traps. You know what struck me first? The lobby actually feels lived-in, not like one of those sterile chain hotels where everything’s too shiny and perfect.
The location is where this place really shines, I mean, Nizami Street is basically Baku’s main artery for anyone who wants to feel the city’s pulse. You’ve got the Old City walls just a short walk away – honestly, I’d wake up early and grab tea from one of the street vendors before the tourist crowds hit. The staff here gets it too; they’re not just reciting scripts about attractions. When I asked about getting to the Flame Towers for sunset photos, the guy at reception told me exactly which marshrutka to catch and warned me about the wind up there (saved me from wearing a flimsy jacket, honestly). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, functional, with that slightly firm mattress that somehow works better than it should. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours, and the shower pressure isn’t going to blow you away, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole setup.
What really won me over was how the place operates like it’s part of the neighborhood rather than dropped into it. The morning breakfast crowd includes local business people grabbing coffee, not just bleary-eyed tourists clutching guidebooks. You’ll hear conversations in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English all mixing together – it gives you this authentic sense of Baku as this crossroads city. The 7.3 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it delivers on the basics really well. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevator has this particular creak that somehow became comforting by day three. If you’re someone who needs every amenity under the sun, you might want to look elsewhere, but if you want a genuine base for exploring Baku without breaking the bank – and actually sleeping in a neighborhood where real life happens – this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

The location, the size of the room and the view from the balcony.
What could be improved: There was a water shortage for a few hours without announcement. There is no elevator. The breakfast choices are limited. The room is non smoking but it smells like someone smoked before we arrived. The pillows are not fluffy.Very good – Kalpesh from India – 16 August 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: FacillitiesNice, value for money – Muhsin from India – 14 December 2023 (8/10)
An unforgettable stay! The hotel's location is unbeatable, offering easy access to all the sights. The value for money exceeded expectations, with exceptional service from the friendly staff. Though the breakfast wasn't extraordinary, it certainly provided a good start to the day. Overall, a fantastic experience that I'd highly recommend for bachelors.
What could be improved: "Not family-friendly due to the lack of a hotel lift. This inconvenience might affect accessibility, especially for families with young children or elderly members. While the other aspects of the hotel might be satisfactory, this crucial factor might not make it the ideal choice for families seeking convenience and ease of access."The stay was good especially the location and room with the view. – Name from Qatar – 30 November 2023 (8/10)
The main reason was the location, it was just at the center of nizami street which was functional 24 hours, and the best part the room was with a balcony with a beautiful view. Everything was accessible at any time. The rooms were good, friendly staff as well who will assist you on all the ways. You dont have to spend any additional amounts in taxis if you are staying here.
What could be improved: There is not much lights specially at the entrance of the hotel, the reception is at 2 floor and when we reach at the hotel location we were just figuring it out were was the entrance from. And the paintings in the room and lobby are not much comfortable if you are with family and kids.Great location and spacious room in Baku. – Viktoria from Hungary – 15 November 2023 (8/10)
The location is really nice and the balcony looking on the walking street adds so much to the experience. Nice to be sitting out and watch people going by. The staff catered for my needs regarding gluten free bread and plant milk for breakfast.
What could be improved: The shelf in the shower is all rusty.Super location, wonderfully attentive staff – Melanie from United Arab Emirates – 20 October 2023 (8/10)
It couldn’t be more central!
What could be improved: No lift – although I didn’t mind the exercise
