Location-wise, you’re right in the thick of things in Nasimi district, but not in that overwhelming touristy way. I mean, you’ve got the Flame Towers doing their nightly light show in the distance, but you’re tucked away enough on 28 May Street that you’re not dealing with constant tour groups wandering around. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – there’s a little bakery about two blocks down where the smell of fresh bread hits you around 7 AM (which is either perfect or terrible depending on your sleep schedule), and you’ll hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but it’s more atmospheric than disruptive.

What really got me about this place is how they’ve used the duplex layout. Downstairs feels like your living space – you can actually cook a proper meal instead of surviving on hotel snacks, and there’s enough room to throw your stuff around without living out of a suitcase. Upstairs is where the magic happens for sleeping, and you know what? The separation actually works. If someone’s a night owl scrolling their phone, they’re not bothering the early risers. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Four Seasons, but everything works like it should. Hot water shows up when you turn the tap, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out during video calls, and the beds are actually comfortable (not those rock-hard hotel mattresses that make you wonder if they’re punishment for something).

Parking can be a bit of an adventure – this is Baku, after all – but the street usually has spots if you’re patient. The whole area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which I appreciated more than I expected. During the day though, you’ve got life happening around you. Kids playing in the courtyard, neighbors chatting on balconies, that sort of thing. It feels authentic in a way that sterile hotel corridors just don’t. The only thing that might catch you off guard is that check-in can be a bit informal – don’t expect a marble lobby with someone in a uniform, but the host actually knows their stuff and can point you toward the good restaurants that aren’t just tourist traps. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just passing through, this duplex thing really delivers on that front.

  – Perfect location! Old city – 1,5-2 km of nice walk, to the sea less than 1k, and other nice things are on the walkable distance, it's really nice
  – Nice old house with balcony to the yard, very Baku style, which is nice
  – The design is not modern, but, there is something in it)

  – Vusal is nice guy, but barely speaks English or Russian
  – The location on booking is not accurate (but Vusal gave directions to our taxi driver, so not a problem, but could be)
